WORLD OF RADIO 2116 monitoring: as expected, NOT confirmed any more Friday December 10 at 2330 on WRMI 5950 as this is now the second semihour of music from APS Radio M-F at 2300. And it is // 4980, both poor direct on DX-398 portable and clipon. Confirmed UT Saturday December 11 at 0230 on WRMI 9395, JBA to Missouri SDR, slightly better VP into Winnipeg further away. (7489.9v), UT Sat Dec 11 at 0100, not even checking SW, I tune the WBCQ webcast for this week`s `AAAWWW`. As usual, A & A are talking/yelling over each other for an hour, which may be fine in person, but not so good for anyone listening via radio/webcast. As always first trying to titillate us about Allan stripping because it`s so hot in Deland of Fla, and Angela being so gorgeous. Then about horse riding, as Central Florida is the Horse Capit@l of the World; so is this a repeat? No. They are both klutzes since they are tall and lanky. Occasional pro-Trump, anti-Biden remarx. 0120 about plant-based substitutes for meat; they are almost vegan, but dairy stuff is OK. etc., etc. Complaining about inflation. 0141, finally datestamp as 10 of December YOOLF 2021; email is open (but not phones apparently, no calls interrupting). Advice for married couples like them: talk a lot to each other, which they do not just this hour, but habitually daily at noon on the porch they hold a ``soviet``, as in council or advice session, and sometimes also at supper. They praise the ops in Maine who are doing such a good job. 0145 reading some items from new Free Radio Weekly just in - frequencies, names, program content, never any times or dates or credits; he does notice my name and remarx, ``When is Glenn Hauser`s World of Radio on?`` Finds it: ``Wednesdays at 5-5:30 pm Eastern on 7490 [never mind the other Area 51 airing]. God bless Glenn Hauser, still doing it; how old is he? Older than me.`` 0152 reading an article about a study financed by Dolby about changing music listening habits by adults. Never mentions radio, but implied, he thinx. 0158 prayer and 0200 over to Hal Turner. John Carver`s version: ``Tonight's show started on time on 4790. No signal on 6160 and 7490. Allan and Angela in the studio. Usual bantering. Allan says he's hot and wants to take his clothes off. Opening talk about horses again and then comments about Angela being nearly naked in the studio. Then back to horses. Antique vehicles are touched upon then jumps into talk about eating red meat, climate change and suggestions that people should eat less red meat which morphs into a discussion about fake meat and how much it has improved over the years since being introduced. They say changing one's diet is just one way to help reduce inflation. A quick mention about chips in new cars which Angela rants about but quickly moves back to horses and then back to new cars. Quick check at 0130 shows 6160 and 7490 are still dead at my QTH. Allan and Angela posit that Elon Musk wants to go to Mars to turn it into a dumping ground for radioactive waste as the Green movement takes over there will be more radioactive waste generated. Jumping from there to musings about fusion power to solve our fuel problems as we phase out fossil fuels. All the time Allan is saying that he'd like to be talking about radio but the talk keeps morphing into different directions such as Angela mentioning AI and Allan going back to discussion about fusion power and then, believe it or not, horses come up again. At about 0143 the noise on 4790 increases and is harder to copy. Then some talk in general about the station stating that all was working well in Maine and the staff up there were great. At 0147 Allan jumps to reading highlights from a Free Radio Weekly with no warning and then gives a plug for Glenn Hauser's WOR program. At 0152 he reads an article about the changing listening habits of today with several references to a Generation Z. Reads an email at 0158 and into the closing prayer. Program was off the air at 0200. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WWCR: included in 840: WHAS et al. Tornadic report below. ** U S A. 840, WHAS: At 0638 UT Dec 11 I posted to the WOR, NRC, IRCA and ABDX groups: ``WHAS Tornadic --- WHAS 840 Louisville with continuous tornado coverage from tune-in 0604 past 0618 UT Saturday Dec 11. unID weatherman obviously on TV with invisible visual references like ``follow my finger`` and ``note the highlighted areas``. But plenty of geographical references, counties threatened, etc. Meanwhile, nothing about this on other major stations in the region, KMOX, WSM, WLAC? Tnx to alert from Paul S in CT. 73, Glenn Hauser, OK`` Here`s what Paul had sent, first at 0517 UT: ``[WOR] Tornado Outburst --- Local news in CT reporting night tornados in Central USA. Tuned into 1120 KMOX for updates, but changed over to local programming after 11PM (CT) [05 UT] news. Workers trapped in an Amazon warehouse in community of Edwardsville [IL]. Reports about Arkansas nursing home direct hit with deaths and injuries. Reports of debris at Commercial Aviation altitudes (33-39000 feet). Also checked in at WHAS 840, some network or local programming there. These reports 0001-0006 EST [0501-0506 UT]. lots of 'flutter' both channels. Local radio stations strong background. (840 New Britain, CT and 1120 Bristol, CT) UPDATE 2331 EST [0531 UT]: WHAS now up strongly with weather report and warnings for area until 0300 CT [09 UT]. Storms are moving at 50-55 MPH. Local area communities have warning reporting. Some massive tornadoes still moving from AR to KY. There is a report of a 200+ mile path length. Some truly awesome powerful storms. Thoughts, Prayers for all. Paul S. in CT FN31nl`` Further replies: 0732 UT: 840, WHAS recheck, briefer wx info from same guy, ID as ``WLKY Chief Meteorologist ---`` didn`t catch the name but WLKY website says Jay Cardosi. BTW, no bother from 846 JBA carrier of Xmas Island. Why isn`t WHAS Radio getting its severe wx info from WHAS-TV????? FCC TV Query shows WHAS 11/11 licensed to Sander Operating Co.; WLKY 14/32 to Hearst Properties, Inc. But WHAS [AM] licensed to IHM Licenses LLC. So WHAS radio is not related to WHAS-TV (Glenn Hauser) 0944 UT: ``Different City but related, at 0918 UT I observed WNQM 1300 as well as WWCR 4840 kHz, 5890 kHz and 5935 kHz suddenly leave the airwaves as tornadoes are passing through the Nashville area. Unknown if this is due to lack of power, damage or as a preventative measure. John Jurasek`` [more about WWCR below] 1339 UT: `` Glenn, KMOX didn't have anything on after 0600 UT (which, considering the severity of this outbreak, mystified me), but did have extensive coverage earlier in the evening. I was tipped off to this around 0340 UT when typing in my own logging of KTMC-1400 on http://dxworld.com/bcblog.html and saw from DXers in Minnesota and Indiana that KMOX had been off. Shortly after sending the message, I tuned into 1120 (as best as I can here, which requires turning my loop 90 degrees from KFAB, then going with USB once I'm on 1120), and KMOX was back on, providing lots of news about the storms, including mentions of Lambert International Airport (not sure if it took a direct hit, or not). The big news online was about an Amazon facility in nearby Edwardsville, Illinois that DID take a direct hit, and 2 people were killed there. Also saw a news item about how one tornado had travelled from Arkansas into the Missouri bootheel, then into Tennessee and Kentucky (!). If confirmed that it was indeed the same twister, it would be the first quad-state tornado in history. 73, Rick Dau, South Omaha, Nebraska`` 1419 UT: ``We had a bumpy night here in the Lexington [KY] area too; warning sirens at 3 AM [08 UT] sent us to the basement for an hour. I can't complain; luckily only minor damage near us but a huge swath of devastation to our west. Amazing weather for December, record-breaking. Being from CT I'm not used to this kind of thing but I'm glad to be here. Jay radiojayallen`` 1702 UT: ``Glenn, as Rick noted, KMOX had wall-to-wall coverage when I was listening around 9:30-10 pm Central (0330-0400 UT) last night --- only it wasn’t their coverage. Like WHAS, they were relaying local TV—in KMOX’s case, KTVU-Fox 2 and KPLR Ch. 11. (I’m “mystified”, to borrow Rick’s term, to hear KMOX carrying audio from any local TV other than KMOV Ch. 4, the CBS affiliate. Oh well…) At that point they were still reporting 50-100 people trapped in the Amazon fulfillment center in Edwardsville, with no mention yet of fatalities. WHAS seemed to be off, or at reduced power, around the same time. I wasn’t hearing much from them at any rate, certainly not thru all the lightning crashes. Randy Stewart, Springfield MO`` 1942 UT: ``Glenn, KMOX had coverage of the tornado in the St. Louis area, but simulcast KTVI/KPLR-TV. At 9 PM CST/0300z KMOX was off the air for about one hour, and I could only hear them on KEZK HD-2. After 9 PM KMOX chose to re-run a program aired earlier that day. Paul Harner`` About WWCR. #1 transmitter was already crippled, unable to run 6115 or 3215 but still 15825 in daytime. However, Dec 11 at 1554, not a trace of 15825 either direct which under ``normal`` conditions is a JBA carrier, nor 13845. I bring up a Maine remote to check them: by 1558, 13845 is VG with TOMBS, and 12160 must have just come on at 1559 during University Network with their 30-30 800 number, and Dead Gene Scott. That is NOT supposed to be on 12160 WWCR-2 at this time, rather various other gospel huxters. Something`s wacko at WWCR. I then sit the Maine SDR on 15825, which cuts on S9+10/20 at *1620. At 1820 I hear a bit of the `Talking [sic] Machine Show` with scratchy old Xmas carols from 1915y, not a solid signal direct on 12160. Even in Enid, there was roof damage by strong straight winds to my doctor`s building (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 18060, Dec 11 at 1551, JBA carrier with flutter, smacking of a 3rd harmonic. Only EiBi 6020 item at this time would be irregular low-power R. Delta International in Holland, surely not that. Aoki also has it Sundays only; as well as imaginary R. Gaúcha, Brasil; and imaginary R. Victoria 24h in Perú. I vaguely recall that harmonicized many years ago. Yes: the summary for WOR 1346 of Feb 6, 2007 says: ``*Try 18060 for harmonic from Perú, Radio Victoria, 6020 x 3, heard in Paraguay at 1716, but not yet from North America. Also try 19440, from its other frequency, 9720 x 2``. Another 18060 station is VMW Wiluna Western Australia, meteo fax, maybe still active but surely not this either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2032 UT December 11
