Hauser Update
Saturday, October 23 2021

Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, again this Saturday, Oct 23, no signal
from LRA36, checking from 1509 via Brasil SDR; first camping on
another listener in Salem OR who has been hearing presumably nothing
from quite a while earlier. When on, more likely Wednesdays now,
nominal start is *1400 until 1600* but usually runs a bit, sometimes a
lot, later, chopping off air without any formal closedown/signoff.
Let`s hope the new crew be a bit more savvy about how to do a
broadcast (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 5939.144v, Oct 23 at 0625, R. Voz Missionária with music
and seems // 9 MHz frequency. Haven`t heard the lower one in some
time, but when on, it`s obvious, way off-frequency from 5940.

9666.086V, Oct 23 at 0627, RVM also still >1 kHz off-frequency with
music, seems // 5939.144v. The upper one keeps jumping back and forth,
hard to tell if plus or minus, but at one point measured here (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5040, Oct 23 at 0633, RHC S9+20, still on here in English:
you never know whether it last past 0600 nor whether English or
Spanish. English also still 6060 humbuzzy, 6100 best, quite stronger
than 6165. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 11840, Sat Oct 23 at 1700, Station YHWH with usual
earnest sermonizing of nonsense, S5-S7 via VE6JY Alberta SDR, after
hearing nothing via the Jordan, Utah Kiwi, must be too close for skip
distance. Tnx to Rick Barton, Sonoran Desert of AZ, tip via WOR iog,
from 1645. Also S4-S6 but noisier, direct to OK at 1706; and still at
1755 JBA; at 1759, S4-S5 to VE6JY and still past 1816 but gone by 1828
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW kHz, Oct 22 at 1848 UT, I`m in the parking lot of
Enid Woodring Regional Airport a few km east of the city. I take out
the DX-398 which tunes below 530 kHz, and find there is NO signal on
341, no EI beacon ID, and not even a carrier. With internal antenna
only, it does easily hear RG 350 in OKC and PN 515 in Ponca City.
Earlier I had noted this along with a Michigan Area Radio Enthusiasts
Tipsheet item:

``--LW/MW NDBs Dave Tomasko’s NDB logs (in frequency order):
20211018 1031 341 EI USA OK Enid 582``

``I find this hard to believe. My local beacon has been unheard for
many weeks, tho checked almost every day and night. Of course it could
have been turned on briefly in the middle of the night once, when I
definitely was not listening. I just checked again and it is certainly
not there --- also logged some other beacons on same frequency such as
OIN in Kansas. I may go out to Woodring Airport with the portable to
find whether there be any sign of it. DT of Galena IL does accumulate
massive NDB logs from all over.``

No info on his equipment, but it looks as if he use some sort of
autologging program. Since then I continue to check 341 frequently,
hearing nothing, or bits of OIN from Oberlin KS (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 4724-USB, Oct 23 at 0635, US military with crypto message,
long string of fonetik letters mixed with some numbers. Deliberately
imposed self-QRM of background noise, reverb, and a constant whine
from about 4724.9; 0637 ``This is Construct; out`` and off the air
along with the whine carrier. There is a different ``ID`` each time
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2109 monitoring: confirmed UT
Saturday October 23 at 0145 the 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9/S6 into Winnipeg
KiwiSDR, which is more or less in the boresight of 355 degrees. Closer
SDRs where I normally can get it, in MO, VA, barely have a signal in
degraded propagation, and likely less to come in wintry nights.

Also confirmed Sat Oct 23 from 1600 on WRN North America webcast.

** U S A. RF 6, Oct 23 at 1512 UT, BAD DTV signal into STB, via my
channel 7+ antenna pointed at OKC. Has to be KBSD-DT, 31 kW ERP at
Ensign = Dodge City KS, the only full-power 6 anywhere around here,
and correlates nicely with tropo maps showing a little blob around
there to here. NO other BAD signals register on the open channels
between 8 and 36. I do start my DTV bandscans at RF ch 6, but it`s a
rare event when KBSD make a showing (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 1849 UT October 23
