Logs
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Sept 18 at 1508, another Saturday
broadcast succeeds from LRA36, good S5-S7 via Brasil SDR: at first I
camp on somebody in Pittsburgh, at 1525 from queue get on it myself.
Usual stuff: song at first, 1509 ID for original Wednesday program
outro with credits, as if off until next Wednesday with `El Lejano
Sur`, 1510 Antártida song, 1514 more music; 1544 ``sign-on`` with
multi-lingual ID including English to inform us that this is in
Spanish. The last language continues to confound: it seems to begin
with ``Govorit``, obviously Russian, but ends with ``imnida``,
obviously Korean. 1548 Antda song again, YL sign-on with current
temps: max -7 C, min -12 C - not too bad; has been colder than that
here. Bit of ``Blanco, blanco y más blanco`` tune, historical item
about a flight to the South Pole on Sept. 19, 1974; 1625 still, mostly
songs; 1649 check, it`s gone already (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6975-USB, Sept 19 at 0008, strong pirate must have
just come on, big band music, 0011 Wolverine Radio ID. HFU already
reports songs with ``Out`` in their titles.

6960-AM, Sept 19 at 0009, JBA pirate, S3-S4. HFU says WTF Radio
Worldwide:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. Included in FM DX-pedition report under U S A.

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary
support; thanks this week to Robert W. Gruska, Glendale NY, for a PMO
to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, who says, ``A
contribution
toward your work producing World of Radio and the weekly DX loggings.
Thanks again for all you do to keep the radio community informed of
the
latest developments covering short wave, medium wave and FM!``

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1130, Sept 18 at 0603 UT tune-in just as ID comes from
``KLEY, 1130-AM and 100.3 FM, Wellington`` Kansas, atop the channel
with its ``one watt`` night power, really 250 W day power, but
considerable QRM from KWKH et al. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) more below

** U S A. `DX-pedition` about 30 km north of Enid on US 81/64/60,
checking AM & FM for anything unusual away from the noise and overload
of the city, on caradio, Sept 18, 1752-1850 UT:

630, Sept 18 at 1755 UT, JBA football? and ad/promo mentioning
``Kay-how``: KHOW Denver CO on daytime groundwave; 5 kW, weaker than
regular 50 kW 670 KLTT; but 560, 5 kW KLZ not heard with less
favorable N/S pattern even tho KWTO MO makes it not either. 850 has
JBA signal, could be KOA or KJON TX. Meanwhile nothing from Chicago
670 or 720 which on a good very quiet day can reach here.

1370, Sept 18 at 1752 UT, environmental PSAs, one for earthshare.org.
Must be KGNO Dodge City KS at full power now, which I can`t get inside
Enid, with desensitization from 1390 KCRC.

1550, Sept 18 at 1753 UT, still can`t confirm KKLE Winfield KS,
despite being this much closer to it; JBA signal with sports?
presumably KYAL Sapulpa OK. But there is also some CCI, probably KDCC
Dodge City KS rather than KMAD Madill OK. Meanwhile sibling to KKLE,
1130 KLEY Wellington KS is still modulating rock loud and clear.

94.3, Sept 18 circa 1830 UT, Enid KLGB-LP is far enough away to be
getting some CCI, surely KCVW Kingman KS, 100/100 kW, west of Wichita
halfway to Pratt on US 54, a Bott gospel huxter while KLGB is mostly
gospel rock. As we pass by it on US81 back into Enid, KLGB overrides
many other FM frequencies for a few blox.

100.1, Sept 18 at 1806 UT, ending ONN news, but signal has been
alternating with weaker CCI, just like an Esporadic opening, except
there isn`t any. And the car is parked immobile. It`s just the
turbulent troposphere. Main one soon IDs as ``100.1 KWFX`` and into
country music. The CCI may be a stupid ballgame, as Saturday afternoon
is full of FB even on non-sports stations breaking music or other talk
formats. No likely peripheral fully desportive stations. What could
the CCI be? No significant Kansans. In OK, closest KYFM Bartlesville,
AC format 25/25 kW; or never logged KYKC Byng - near Ada, country,
50/50 kW. Also translators in Edmond, Chickasha.

1817, fuller ID ``100,000 watts of Spirit Country, 100.1 KWFX``, i.e.
omitted CoL, Woodward OK. This too is tough inside Enid with local
LPFM on 99.9; and so is 101.1 KWOX Woodward with KGWA translator on
100.9 --- no longer mislisted as silent in the WTFDA FM DB.

But here`s another mistake:

``K262CQ KLEY-1130 100.1 WELLINGTON KS USA ADULT CONTEMPORARY 100.3
THE WAVE 0.25 0.25 0.0 0.0 37-14-28 97-24-04`` ! This 100.3 station
which relates to the reactivated 1130 is axually filed under 100.1,
not 100.3! The channel 262 callsign also goes with 100.3, not with
100.1 like another translator which is a `261. Remotely possible is a
frequency change in progress, without being re-called yet. As for the
0.0 and 0.0 meter antenna heights, not really on the ground, but
unknown HAAT default all too frequently displayed.

102.9, Sept 18 at 1822 UT, ``Country 102.9``, mother DJ says she
brings daughter to work, refers to ``Hutch`` which I guess is localese
for Hutchinson KS, but also to callsign KHUT, 99/99 kW. Another one
blocked inside Enid, by local 103.1 KOFM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-oceanic JBA MW carrier search, Sept 18 at
0606-0610 UT, not in the order tuned: 684, 711, 774(2), 846, 882,
1098, 1107, 1125, 1305, 1413, 1503(2) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
