** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Wed May 5 at 1513, LRA36 is only S2-S3 into Brasília #2 KiwiSDR, signature ``Antártida`` song at tune-in, LRA36 ID, then mostly music past 1527; still on at 1555 but off before 1700 when I check again after Eritrea [non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** BOTSWANA. 17530, May 5 at 1533, pop song in English, S9+10/20 into UTwente. It`s VOA relay this hour only; 1535 DJ urges COVID measures such as masking, back to more song, Bieber, on `Border Crossings`, which hardly presents anything exotic as the name might imply. Aoki shows this transmission is *jammed lest any oppressed ESL Chinese pick it up, but no jamming audible now. So strong I think I was hearing trace of its music bleeding/crossmodding onto 17545, see ERITREA [non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA [non]. 15700, May 5 at 1502 & 1543 chex, CRI Plus English relay via CUBA is AWOL for at least second day: canceled, or another outage? Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6060, May 5 at 0629, RHC English has the humbuzz on here again ex-6100, which is off along with 6000; while 6165 remains on in the clear. You never know what combo of 5 possible channels will be running after 0600. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA [non]. 17544.90910v, another Wednesday, May 5 at 1527 so I`m listening for Bayto Yaikl, the Wed & Sat only clandestine brokered by RMI via Issoudun, FRANCE. Once again there is a JBA signal via UTwente, S6 = noise level on adjacent channel, but enough for its Synch to look onto it precisely as above. No audio from it, but traces of music from somewhere which at 1533 I decide is bleed/crossmod from the VOA bigsig on 17530, with Border Crossings via BOTSWANA, q.v. 17545v itself is far too weak to identify directly, but was the always off-frequency B.Y. in the B-season. WRMI skedgrid at the very bottom still shows 17545, not updated for A-season. I`m alert for when it go off, which happens at 1558:49* including any internet delay; can ISS still be running that transmission with nothing in it?? Latest HFCC of May 4 still shows: 17545 1530 1600 48 ISS 250 120 0 227 1234567 280321 301021 D 17400 Mul F RMI TDF 13156 BYUSA But also: 11760 1630 1700 48 ISS 250 125 0 216 36 280321 301021 D 8500 Mul F RMI TDF 14044 NEW Ivo Ivanov has been reporting that 11760 an hour later on Wed & Sat is replacement for 17545, even tho 11760 entry does not include ``BYUSA`` and the 17545 was never 7 days a week. 11760.000 or 11759.999, says UTwente Synch: Rather than LRA36, after 1630 May 5 I keep listening to 11760, S5-S7 into UTwente, which certainly seems like Bayto Yaikl, but I *never* can hear those words mentioned. Opening has horrible self-imposed echo but only briefly. Presumably in Tigrinya, but occasional English terms I can copy: kHz, Amerika, World Press Freedom Day, Amnesty International, PBS Frontline, investigative reporting. Continues all-talk with Frontline etc. mentioned again at 1646. 1647 finally a bit of Horn-of-Africa music; 1655 mentions Hitler, Hirohito; 1656 HOA music; 1656.5 closing announcement in *Arabic* including meter-band, kHz, and off at 1659* At PBS website I cannot find a Frontline episode about Eritrea (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7254.9+, May 5 at 0622, VON with big OC, then JBM chant and drumusic. Tuned by at 0619, it was NOT on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 35, May 5 at 1514 UT, a little tropo enhancement produces one BAD signal normally invisible, on this channel only; could be full power in Wichita KS, low power in Woodward or Concho OK. Hepburn tropo map points toward the latter, the native station near OKC I`ve seen before, K35MV-D, 15 kW. I continue to wonder about its penetration into the OKC market; must it be carried on any cable channel? Soon fades out (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 7730, May 5 at 0618, another TOMBS transmission via WRMI bites the dust. Had been the last of three 7 MHz frequencies to retain the dead gasbag overnight; but still shows on the WRMI skedgrid as Overcomer 01-08, so absence could be temporary. Still rampant on 5850 & 5950 --- and 5890 WWCR --- with JBA signals on 9395 & 9455, the lower still sked with him too. WRMI skeds are never uptodate, still dated April 2, and still showing 7570 & 7780 overnight TOMBS which were really dropped weeks ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2084 monitoring; can anyone confirm the Wed May 5 at 1030 on WRMI 5850? Next: 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Ron Howard, Monterey, California, in memory of Noel Green, for a check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, and Ron says, ``Appreciate all the wonderful things you do for our hobby!`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Vanuatu in music with a low-audible-heterodyne, LAH, i.e. the A-21 season CCI expected from CNR2, Xianyang 59 site, China, so one or both of them must be slightly off-frequency. I have not yet tried to measure RV`s 3rd harmonic when it`s solo. On contrary, Aoki/NDXC shows CNR2 is in a siesta break after 0600 on Day 4 only = Wednesday = today; shouldn`t that be Day 3 = Tuesday? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 13530, May 5 at 1457 open carrier over CODAR, S9 with some fades to S6, off by 1501 recheck. Strong and steady enough to be intracontinental, but way outside a broadcast band, maybe ute? Or extracontinental CNR1 *jammer since 13530 is a Sound of Hope frequency until 1550 per Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1823 UT May 5
