Glenn Hauser logs May 3, 2021

Hauser
** COLOMBIA. 4940, May 3 at 0603, song at S9, stronger than usual
direct, often JBA, the still fuzzy outlet which runs all night and
presumably all day with good signals into Bonaire remote, from Maicao
for Venezuela, known as La Montaña, or Montana, or Fuerza de Paz as
the ministry website programming source succeeding the 5910 & 6010
stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6165, May 3 at 0559, RHC English is off; 6060 and 6000 and
5040 are also off now, so the final English hour or fraxion gets only
one frequency and a bad one: 6100 is S9+30 with humbuzz like used to
be on 6060, likely same transmitter moved. Something`s always wrong at
RHC.

Note: Richard Langley heard RHC say on UT May 2 that their English
broadcasts are now two hours long instead of just one repeating over
and over in our evenings, perhaps due to their 60th anniversary, but a
permanent change? Years ago they were more than one hour long. But
what about the single-hour blox at 1900 & 2300? Expanded plus or
minus? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15370, May 3 at 1948, RHC 1900 English is here, S9+10/20 but
undermodulated, while scheduled 15140 is absent. Maybe make-do while
the other transmitter be down? You never know what RHC will do next.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA NORTH. 11710, May 3 after 0600, stilted French from VOK now
propagating fairly; one wonders if their announcers had book-larnin`
only. Aoki/NDXC does not show this broadcast, but WRTH B-20 sked
showed French at 06-07 on 11735, 13760 and 15180 for Latin America,
even tho it`s the middle of the night in Guiana French and the
Windward & Leeward Islands! BTW, Martinique is Windward, Guadeloupe is
Leeward.

EiBi shows instead CRI in Mandarin to SE Asia this hour on 11710, but
no sign of that here. The Bulgarian DX Blog sked for A-21 also shows
those three for VOK and not 11710. Same for Arnulf Piontek, Berlin,
who seems to have inside sources at VOK. So we have NEWS about a rare
change for VOK! Also a weak signal on 11680, which would be domestic
program (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALI. 15125, May 3 at 1705, CRI scheduled in Swahili via Bamako,
but doesn`t sound much like Swahili, maybe corrupted by Chinese
accent. // 13645 listed is OFF. And so is 15125 at 1712*-*1722; all
talk instead of music I was seeking (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 7168-LSB, May 3 at 0627, ZL4RMF, Dunedin,
audible but weaker than contact KN6GPR who says he visited Dunedin
last year but can`t remember how to pronounce it. Hint: it does not
refer to noisy sand.

ZL4RMF: Ron Falconer. See his antennas on a hilltop:
https://www.qrz.com/lookup/zl4rmf

KN6GPR: Lynden L Williams, Tehachapi, CA 93561-5431 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7254.9+, May 3 at 0558, VON IS at S9+10/20, sporadically
active here again when it blasts into N America, presumably about to
start Hausa hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2084 monitoring: Re the Sat May 1
WOR scheduled on WRMI 15770 at 1300: ``as often, missed due to
sleeping the May 1 Sat 1300 on WRMI 15770, so hope to see some
confirmation of it later.``

``Hi Glenn, I was listening to this, it came on at 1300 but went off
after about a minute or so and it was then WRMI fill in music and
jingles till 1330 when SW Radiogram took over. Looked like some sort
of computer hitch which switched to the backup. Alan Gale``, UK, ptsw
iog

Since the UT Fri 0130 was replaced by something else, this means that
there were no airings of WOR on WRMI until Sunday 2300, three days
after produxion!

More encouragement to listen online, as a podcast ASAP, altho I try to
hold shortwave primary. Furthermore there are now no scheduled SWBCs
after Sunday night = early UT Monday --- until Wednesday:

Next:
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support:
thanks this week to Ron Howard, Monterey, California, in memory of
Noel Green, for a check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702,
and Ron says, ``Appreciate all the wonderful things you do for our
hobby!``

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, May 3 at 1510, WRMI is still on with TOM, Scourby
Bibling, then old BS hystairical, // stronger 9395. Sometimes 9955
stays on after 1430 for this, sometimes not (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 0432 UT May 4
