** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Sat May 1 at 1438, LRA36 is on and into Brasil SDRs, one of them slightly noisier than another. First talking about current events such as the Iran Nuclear Deal [should that be capitalised?]. I`m busy with breakfast, etc., so not listening continuously, but 1530 still there, S5 in Antártida song; 1538 IDs in 4 languages mentioning Base Esperanza. 1552 typical canned ID, ``Nacional Antártida Argentina, La Radio Pública``. 1555.5 another ID and at 16009. 1623 still on at S1-S3; 1650 comes in stronger, music; 1658 eQSL info; sign-off Saturday broadcast, so this part is not a Wednesday playback. Mentions being part of the Ministry of Defense, i.e. military, not civilian as Wikipedia claims. 1700 Antártida song, now S5 and does not really close down yet. 1704 & 1708 other music 1732 ``sign-on`` again with Spanish, German, English, Russian?/Korean? announcement. 1737 Antda. song again, email and FB, frequencies 15476 and FM 96.7 at the base, max temp today 2C, couldn`t catch the min. Off abruptly at 1740* and still of by 1744 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, May 1 at 0642, JBA carrier; not in a full 9 kHz bandscan which would now be too late for Eurafrica, and too early for DU/FE, but just right for R. Kiribati some two hours after its sunset. Distancefromto.net cannot handle computations from London, Kiritimati, or Christmas Island, or Kiribati, instead leading to the far western isles of Kiribati, to the UK or even Australia! My NGS Globe when it was part of the Line Islands shows Xmas about 4500 statute miles from Enid or 3900 nautical miles, or 7250 km. I can`t imagine this JBA carrier being anything else, save for some deliberate spoiler on the same frequency closer such as Tucson in the same direxion, which is 250 degrees, as I once confirmed but not lately. If propagable, a spoiler from the exact opposite direxion would have to be from Philadelphia to Western Sahara into central Nigeria (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 11905, May 1 at 1839, anti-Christ pirate, Station YHWH is JBA at W7RNA Phœnix remote, and at 1853 JBA carrier here, tnx to tip from Rick Barton in AZ who was hearing him better at 1815. YHWH has shown up before circa midday on various 25mb frequencies. Walt Salmaniw says he was off by 1930 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, May 1 at 2200, VOT English is on today vs RTTY. The Kiwi at KB0FX escapes it by LSB tuning altho before on my own rigs the RTTY has inevitably spanned both sides. Mostly music later in hour, IS keeps going, 2259 ID in German, and the spurious German program keeps going until someone wakes up and turns it off at 2319.8*. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2084 monitoring: as often, missed due to sleeping the May 1 Sat 1300 on WRMI 15770, so hope to see some confirmation of it later. Confirmed Sat May 1 from 1800:38 on IRRS Bulgaria 7290 via UTwente SDR, very strong and loud without much QRM. Also Challenger Radio on new 918 kHz from Villa Estense, Italy, via the neighboring Noale SDR. I was listening to both before 1800: at 1750. 918 in English about ballet, steady S9+18; 7290 still weak Chinese. By 1757, 7290 open carrier is on at S9+25. At 1759, 918 stops unknown program to play the IRRS `Aïda` march theme with no upcut. 7290 JIPs it upcutting at 1759:47, quick IRRS sign-on, some pause and WOR from its start but not synchronized via these two very different routes. Now it`s S9+25/35 on 7290 via UTwente. Ends properly before 1830. Also confirmed Sat May 1 from 1949 tune-in until finished at 2002.8 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM via KB0FX remote, S9+8. It was skipping frequently and I hope this is an SDR defect, not that way out of Wentzville. Which BTW must interrupt for own ID every dekaminute, and also removes my opening billboard as too musical for ham radio.
