Hauser
** CUBA. 13634 & 13766 approx., April 27 at 1416, just a trace of
scratchy spurblobs out of 13700-AM. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9710, April 27 at 1455, RHC Spanish S9+10 on new frequency!
Ex-9650 missing. Another error, experiment or permanent change? Same
transmitter a few days ago tried 9640 instead of 9650. As I researched
then, 9640 would have been conflict-free for the morning 1100-1500
transmission. So is 9710 better? NO, the big 3 references agree that
CNR1 from SZG sites runs 1100-1805; also Iran in Urdu at 1250-1420 due
east from Sirjan.

9710 might also show up for 21-05 tardemisión; clashes then would be
CNR1 until 2330, and CRI in Portuguese & Spanish via EAST TURKISTAN,
land of imperialist ChiCom genocide against Uyghurs and other Moslems,
at 0000-0300. 9640 would have clashed with China at 21-23. Something`s
always wrong at RHC. Anyhow, this revacates 9650 for GUINEA 06-24, if
and when they can get it on.

9710, later at 2219, RHC is indeed also afternooning instead of 9650,
but no China QRM audible. Will it last more than one day? Should be
problematic after 0000 with China to Latin America (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** ITALY. From Alfredo Cotroneo, IRRS, April 27:

``Hi Glenn, We have received final approval for our new frequency. We
will be moving from 594 to 918 kHz (daily from 1900 to 2300 CET [17-21
UT]) effective April 28, 2021. 918 kHz will be cleaner and propagate
better into Central and Northern Europe at night.

WOR will also be moved from 594 to 918 kHz, at the usual times as
previously scheduled. Bests. Alfredo

I.e. for WORLD OF RADIO, UT: Friday 2030; Saturday 1801 with SW 7290 &
14580 Bulgaria; Sunday 2000. I already pointed out other stations on
917/918; hope he`s right about improvement (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7254.9+, April 27 at 0605, VON is gone. I suppose there is
no point in re-non-logging this as more often than not, it is begone.
Till the next (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. Re RRI frequencies missing, Stephen Luce replies:

``Glenn, RRI now has English advisory about the transmitter outage:
https://www.rri.ro/en_gb/emitters_out_of_service-2636082

They also included the advisory at the end of their 0000 English
newscast UT April 27, as heard here in Houston on 7375. No signal
heard on 9550 at the same time. Later just before 0300 I could hear
the RRI IS with an extremely weak signal on 9850 via the UTwente SDR,
nothing on 7375. Reception above 7 MHz has been terrible the past week
or so, whether listening here in Houston or via UTwente.

The current RRI transmitters were installed in 2008, so relatively
youthful for SW. RRI also had a transmitter outage for several days at
the beginning of A21. I fear that continued problems might lead to
more pressure to shut down SW output. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas``

Viz.: ``Dear friends, Radiocom, 2 of the 5 emitters transmitting RRI’s
broadcasts, one in Ţigăneşti (near Bucharest) and another one in
Galbeni (eastern Romania), are out of service, Radiocom, the company
transmitting Radio Romania International’s programmes has announced..

This will affect a number of shortwave frequencies for RRI’s
broadcasts in Romanian, English, French, German, Spanish, Russian,
Arabic and Chinese.

Radiocom has given assurances it is making efforts to bring the
emitters back into service. We’ll keep you updated on the situation
and invite you to tune in to our working frequencies and our online
broadcasts (including on demand), via the download mobile applications
available in Google Play and App Store, via Eutelsat 16A and via your
land and mobile phones.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, April 27 at 2210, wow, REE is inbooming S9+25 in
interview with someone American-accented. Tue at 2200 should be the
Ladino service but they are defaulting to castellano. For once the N
American frequency is holding up from local ``midnight`` and better
than the others: 15520 to ME JBA; 11940 to SAm only S5-S7. 17855 is
still VG S9 by 2226. We shall see whether a fluke or hold up into
summer season. Of course we need that to happen at 2200 on M/W/F when
there is token English. BTW, at 2228, no signals at all on the 18 MHz
hamband. If any Spaniards had been trying, they surely would have been
audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2083 monitoring; next:
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support:
thanks this week to Dan Sheedy, Encinitas, California, for a generous
contribution to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, ``Thanks
for keeping accurate, reliable and timely DX info available all these
years. Enclosed is a bit to help out all the WOR activities. Cheers
from the Beach``

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds,
to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also ITALY!

** VANUATU. 11835, April 27 at 0606, no signal from RV X 3. Nor on
7260 which should have switched to 3945 at 0559. No JBA carrier on
7890, RV X 2, either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** YEMEN [non]. 11860, Apr 27 at 2220 something JBA, unseems // 9710
RHC nor as spur de 11850 RHC which is weak dead air and no spur either
on 11840. Also unusually no residual jamming audible on 11860 after
Martí finish at 2200. So this is probably Republic of Yemen Radio out
of SA`UDI ARABIA; as the Qur`an program on 11820+ is a good S9 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

STEPHEN COLBERT interview on FRESH AIR, with Terry Gross:

APRIL 27, 2021 --- Catching Up with Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert has been taping 'The Late Show' without a studio
audience during the pandemic — but he's not always alone. Sometimes
his wife Evie is in the room. If she laughs, he knows he's on the
right track. "I got into show business in a way to not be alone. Like
a lot of comedians, I'm a bit of a broken toy," he says. Colbert and
Terry Gross catch up on the past four years, since the Trump
administration and COVID-19 changed his comedy.
