WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST by Alan Roe, April 5
Hi Glenn, my latest Hitlist update. https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm 1) UTC offset notations updated for DST changes in New Zealand 2) USA - World Harvest Radio: Removed links to SW (frequencies, programmes, live streaming). Retained link to home page for now. Unless there's a major change anywhere, the next update will be in May. Best wishes and 73 Alan ** CUBA. Correct number of the AER DX report on RHC En Contacto April 4 was 169, not 569; if always monthly, that = 14+ years (Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** CUBA. RHC check at 0455 UT April 5: 6060 Spanish with humbuzz, 6100 Spanish with squeal, 5040 good in Spanish; 6165 // 6000 music presumed English service. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ITALY. 11390-USB, April 5 at 1642, Marconi Radio International during publicized broadcast with 250 watts; very marginal via UTwente SDR but I leave it there rather than fishing around for better Kiwis. S5 is the noise level and MRI about the same; a song at first; 1643 a 4+1 time?signal and ID in English; a few notes of ``Wheels``, ``playing more music at the weekends`` [sic]; 1645 Italian announcement; 1650 almost fadeout, music. 1711 mentions R. Aparecida in Portuguese, a DX segment clip? Then some Italian; clip of RHC in Spanish; 1715 music; 1724 talk and music; 1728 fade up for ID in Italian with piano chords IS, then English ID a few times looping and apparently off 1730 as sked, tho JBA traces of algo a bit longer (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. Checking the RRI 2030-2100 English to N America, April 5, *2027 IS via Alexandria SDR is good on both 13650 and 11850. Here at 2043 however, 11850 is JBA carrier and 13650 is JBA. By 2058 RRI is off but there`s a big OC on 11850, no doubt CUBA. It may well be on earlier blocking those ex-Commies (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, April 5 at 2025, REE has managed to get its North American frequency running again after a week AWOL! I proceed to monitor it and the others the rest of the afternoon, since I have feared it wouldn`t propagate until 2230, let alone 0200* as scheduled. Gaisma.com says today`s sunset at Madrid, near Noblejas, was 2044 CEST = 1844 UT. Of course maybe an hour later for signals to the west thru the critical first refraxion point, before MUF drop. First, via the Alexandria VA SDR for a good idea of how it reach the east coast, bound to be better than into deep North America OK. Presumably started at 1800 when I was busy monitoring WOR on IRRS. At 2025 tune-in, 17855 is S9+10, good. By 2047 has faded to S8-S9. 2102, down to S6-S4. 2110, S5-S4 now fighting the band noise level. 2113 about gone! but presumably still transmitting. Here into my R75: at 2042, 17855 is S8-S5, BUT 15520 aimed away from us is much better already, S9/+10. 11940 for S America is almost as good, S8-S9. Alexandria obs of the others: At 2058, 15520 is S9/+5, already much better than 17855 S7-S4. By 2135, 11940 surpasses 15520, and BTW still inaudible on 17855 and ex-9690. By 2143, 15520 has faded out, leaving 11940. By 2157, 11940 remains, better than 11685, the African frequency I had not checked before, way off-beam and vs 11687.5 RTTY. 11940 still audible at 2200 for timesignal and starting token English on Monday. Alison says after some news items, feature will be on the 275th anniversary of artist Fsco. Goya, but even this is fading down and out by 2203. Back to my own rx: 11940 has held up better here, S9/+10 at 2211; Goya feature finally starts at 2212 by another YL announcer, but soon fade-out of the last frequency lasting. If they were on 9 MHz, like 9690 by now, the 2200 M/W/F English would surely still propagate as the MUF continues to fall. Those of us who have been listening to SW for a few years or 60+, have a feel for Propagation 101, as what I have monitored above should be obvious and predictable, but not to REE frequency management. Or they could have checked the WRTH 2021 page 43 for the table of Most Suitable Frequencies: From Europe to E North America in March-April 2021: 15-23 UT 15 MHz, 23-03 UT 9 MHz; same to W North America: 16-20 UT 15 MHz, 20-24 UT 11 MHz, 00-04 UT 7 MHz. NEVER 17 MHz! Central North America? Who cares (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 5 at 2159 I can hear the VOT IS via Virginia SDR but fighting the RTTY. At 2204 it`s useless with the two adding up to S9. Something`s always awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2080 monitoring: confirmed on IRRS 7290 via UTwente, Monday April 5, modulation cutting on at 1800:49 as WOR opening with theme is already in progress, same as happened last week, by misprogrammed automation? Then I lunch, but seems intact until ending at 1829:30, some music and finally IRRS ID and contact info, Feature Story News. I was monitoring earlier from 1750 when there was nothing on 7290 but CNR in Chinese, music, S7 with splash. *1757 IRRS open carrier with some hum, but China still audible under, with 5+1 timesignal at 1800, and CNR1 theme, but I don`t think it stayed on until 1805 as alleged. By the time WOR starts JIP, ACI splash has abated, finding nothing closer than 7300 with Iran in German, so LSB or narrow synch tuning minimises that; Iran quits at 1820 anyway. Next: 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Benn Kobb, Arlington VA, for a check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute, not necessarily in US funds, via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7489.983V, Monday April 5 at 2300, WBCQ with semirepeat of `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot` 25 hours after original full airing, but missed most of it since thru no fault of my own it conflicts with WORLD OF RADIO on the other WBCQ, 6159.93, Sunday at 2200; even if it be last week`s edition. UB doesn`t publicize this airing much but I often find it more convenient. This week starts with music from Solomon Islands, at 2318, ``This Land is Your Land`` with choir and bamboo tuned pipes, to be viewed on his site at disgraced FB. More music to come from Tonga and Vanuatu. Signal noticeably improves at 2325 to S9+10, but chopped off at 2330 for ID and *spot commercial* for Peacock, newish streaming service of NBC. Spot ads are extremely rare on US SW stations, no doubt hard to sell; have heard one or two occasionally on WRMI; and into Camp Constitution Radio on WBCQ. Did CCR have anything to do with the Peacock adjacency, or does it run at random, or BCQ choice? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1540.200, April 5 at 0503 UT, WKVQ still making big het here; 1319.715, April 5 at 0504 UT, detectable het from WCOG still here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Here`s my latest strategy to view `CBS Sunday Morning`: timer-record it on KWTV; if awake, check to be sure they haven`t shunted it to KSBI. Anyway, primarily watch it at: https://www.cbsnews.com/sunday-morning/ as I did this week April 5 of the April 4 edition, after which I can re-use my own back-up tape of it. The website playback was correct and OK, except went into incessant buffering two or three times, but after noting the timer, refreshed and picked it up where left off. This week totaled 64 instead of 62 minutes, all commercials excised, but adding 2 minutes to the closing nature segment, more than ever goes on the CBS air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search April 5 at 0457, early enough for NW & SW Europe still to skywave: 531, 558, 576, 585, 612(2), 639(2), 684, 693, 738, 774(2), 837, 855, 882, 891, 909, 1053, 1089, 1125(2), 1134, 1152(2), 1215, 1296(2), 1305(2). Also 1710(2), likely domestic. (2) = at least two carriers beating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0118 UT April 6 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
