Logs
** ANTARCTICA. At 1533 UT March 17 I notified the WOR iog:
``[WOR] LRA36 is on --- At 1529 UT, music on 15475.96-RCUSB or so,
LRA36 is back from Antarctica into a Brasil SDR. Regular Wednesday
broadcasts resumed. ID at 1532 for ``15476``. Also German, English,
Glenn, OK``. No replies received, but further from me:

That`s on the Pardinho SP SDR, where there is rather high local noise
level; so I try Campo one: less noise but also weaker signal. 1533
programa de hoy announces Base Esperanza geo coördinates; 1540 seems
to be recounting history of the base or the station; 1542 music; 1546
ID and more music; 1549 ID, music; 1559 something about Venezuela;
1606 ID; 1608 start a song but cuts off the air with no sign-off.
LRA36 had first been reported reactivated on Sat Feb 27, by Rudolf
Grimm, in a long-delayed post via HCDX. Previous pattern was Wed,
often repeated Sat, and sometime specials (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, March 17 at 0551, RHC English with pulsing sound
marring modulation here of the thin-voiced YL, who named herself, I
think, Lina? Valverde. It`s impossible to find staff info at RHC
website, except for management. But Lena is correct per various print
bylines searched out. // 6000 & 6100 sound better, but 5040 at 0556 is
in Spanish, not English. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GUAM. 11990, Tue March 16 at 2217, S5-S7 gospel huxter in English.
Per Aoki/NDXC, it`s KSDA on days 135 = UT SunTueThu, the other days at
2200-2230 in Sundanese -- as in part of Indonesia, not Sudanese (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 255-MCW kHz, March 17 at 0145 UT, 25-watt ND beacon SW,
as in StillWater, is back! Had been off since February 8 when frigid,
icy weather hit, but long since recovered from that, highs in the 70s.
Now a new storm approaches from the west with high LW noise level and
rising, difficultizing audibility despite proximity. 341 EI Enid is
still off from a later refailure (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 91.7, March 17 at 0305 and still 0400 UT, dead air from
KOSU, but streaming is funxional during `The Spy` --- no loss for me
as KOSU throws away half its airtime at night for Okie music instead
of public radio fare it provides so well in the daytime. Such a split
personality discourages me from otherwise deserved financial support.
I don`t want half of it going to The Spy. They don`t even provide NPR
or BBC news overnight. There is no severe weather excuse for this
outage. At 0413, carrier cuts off less than a minute, back on still
dead, so maybe they are working on it. 0435 suddenly comes to life, no
explanation or apology (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. Overcome by dead air: See USA: WRMI, WWCR

** U S A. 13566+CW, March 17 at 1505, as I am daily checking for K6FRC
on 13565-CW, instead hear another HIFER beacon, first one in a long
time, copied ``WAS`` right away but nothing more readable in next 11
minutes. Fortunately, WAS is the real call in the LWCA list:
``13566.22~ WAS Smithfield, NC FM13 CW (h 2020/12)``
and yes, this WAS slightly above 13566, but no chance to measure it.
Smithfield is just SE of Raleigh, halfway to Goldsboro, 1758 km = 1093
stmi from Enid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2077 monitoring: WRMI has been
deadairing quite a lot lately, not just TOMBS but affecting us:

Chris Krug in Tulsa reports:
``[WOR] 5850 WRMI WOR Wed 1030 UTC AWOL --- One of the best things
about the time change is being able to listen to WOR on my early
morning walk on Wednesdays on 5850, 1030 utc [5:30 am CDT]. Except
it`s not there this morning. Carrier seems fine, there's just no
programming. Hey WRMI! Wake up! Chris KC5IIE Tulsa, OK``

And also ``From: Richard Lemke, City: St. Albert, Province: Alberta,
Country: Canada. From, the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio:
JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees.

Dear Glenn: Looks like I didn’t hear either program at 1000, (AWR Wave
scan) or at 1030, when World of Radio usually should be aired
[4:30 am MDT], just a strong signal but no audio was heard. March 17
UTC 2021, (Lemke, Richard -AB) 73’s, Richard March 17, 2021``. Next:

2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW [ex-2200]
2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE [ex-2300]
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support:
thanks this week to Michael Rutkaus, K4GET, Winchester VA, for a
contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com - not necessarily in
US funds

One may also contribute via MO or check in US funds on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9455, March 16 at 2226, dead air from this WRMI-5, supposed
to be Overcomer from 11 to 24.

7570 & 7730, March 17 at 0237, still 0256, 0321, both S9+40 of dead
air from these WRMIs 11 & 13, which happen to be the only two
scheduled for TOMBS at 02-03, so nothing to compare as other US
stations are otherprogramming too. No WWCRs are scheduled with TOM
until 0400 at the earliest, 3215 which has horrible squealing. Ha! At
0407, dead air there too except for the squealing ruling! So the
problem is somewhere between SC, International Vacuum and
affiliates.

BTW, as of March 17, WWCR program sked is still dated March 1 showing
6-hour difference between UT and CT, so beware and consult with care.

After 0300 these WRMIs are supposed to add on: 7780, 9395 and 5850. At
0326, 5850 is dead air too; so are 7780 and 9395 into Maine SDR. If
it`s a feed failure faulty from Walterboro, we certainly hope BS is
still getting billed for transmission, a fine compromise between
income and detestable programming. 0436 recheck, born again on the
WRMIs, still dead on WWCR 3215 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1030, March 17 at 0152 UT, Mexican music, and soon SHVAs
plugging the two FM translator frequencies, 99.1 and 97.3, of WNOW
Mint Hill [Charlotte] NC, 9.4 kW daytimer direxional west. Before and
since I first discovered it March 10, many others have reported it.
Slogan ``La Zeta`` I still haven`t copied for sure in the exaggerated
SHVA intonation, but no doubt this be it. BTW, what positive
connotation has Zeta in Spanish; the end, or the ultimate? Altho not
so in the original Greek, rather Omega (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1540.2, March 17 at 0143 UT, no het against 1540.0 stations,
so WKVQ Eatonton GA finally fixed, or at least daytimer off? I believe
it was still there last night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 2011 UT March 17
