Greetings from the United States of America, again under honest, rational, competent, empathetic management!
** CANADA. 335-MCW, Jan 20 at 0731 UT, dash and YLD, 1000-watt ND beacon at Chapleau, Ontario. 274-MCW, Jan 20 at 0737 UT, dash and YPM, 25-watt NDB from upnorth Pilangikum, Ontario, still in Hepburn list in red as ``back on``. Distance is 1741 km = 1082 stmi, or 43.28 watts per mile. One of these quiet winter nights before spring storming set in, I should report *every* Canadian beacon audible in one session; I tend to avoid relogs of same ones over and over again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Jan 20 at 0742, JBA carrier but stronger than 837 and several other TA carriers still audible. This one surely R. Kiribati, which has often been absent around this time; as there is nothing more than 3 kW from W Europe = Ireland; 20/50 kW from Mideast but too late for them, while it`s long after sunset in east Kiribati. See also UNIDENTIFIED (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KUWAIT. 1548 kHz, Jan 20 at 0153 UT, JBA carrier but really stands out as nothing else at 9-kHz steps audible highband above 1107. There are two 500 kW, R. Sawa, Kuwait 24 hours; and TWR via Pridnestrovye to eastern Europe but only at 1930-2130 per WRTH 2021. See also UNIDENTIFIED. 1548 is what`s left of the once great VOA Arabic service on SW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 293-MCW kHz, Jan 20 at 0733 UT, two NDBs mixing, TOR and FBY. Commonly I only hear FBY, 25 watts from FairBurY, Nebraska. TOR is 50 watts from TORrington, Wyoming. Previously but not now on 293 I have also heard UI, qUIncy, Illinois. 286-MCW kHz, Jan 20 at 0735 UT, ND beacon .-.-/... --- what??? .-.- is not a Roman letter but Russian ``ya``. I listen again and again, and that`s what it sounds like, tuned to 284-USB. But this must be on 286, EKS in Ennis, Montana, heard without a pause between dit for E and dah-dit-dah for K! Classaxe shows no note about any such error, https://www.classaxe.com/dx/ndb/rna/signal_list and BTW is being replaced by: https://rxx.classaxe.com/en/rna/signals 269-MCW kHz, Jan 20 at 0730 UT, ND beacon BEX, which is 25 watts from Bloomfield, Iowa; I was tuned to 267-USB where it`s mixing about equally with 25-watt HET, Henryetta, Oklahoma, which is usually alone (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2069 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday January 20 at 1030 on WRMI 5850: it`s been on the skidgrid a while, but finally checked it via timer recording, VG thisaway, and onward to Asia?? Center beam crosses circa Saipan/NMI, but by then it should be broad enough for east Asia too. How is it there or even in NZ/Au?
