** CUBA. 9700, Jan 18 at 0711, S9+30 of dead air, as RHC refuses to modulate English plus refuses to turn off. Somethings always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13630 approx., Jan 18 at 1445, RHC spurblob with F# tone, unreadable in SSB but in FM or AM mode, S6-S8; also weaker 13559 mixing with constant ISM pulse noises; out of 13700-AM which is S9/+10; also 13772 and 13843 at approx ~71 kHz intervals. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA. 7140 & 7180, Jan 18 at 1519, JBA carriers amid LSB AROs, fittingly for the two VOBME reactivated intruders; by long path. Not attempted to measure now, but on Jan 1, Wolfgang Bueschel found them both exactly 21 Hz plus (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE. 9900-9905-9910, Jan 18 at 1512, S3-S4 of DRM noise, one of the TDF/RFI tests, but starts it at 1500 or 1505 per conflicting info? Ivo Ivanov says the datespan for these is Jan 11, when I discovered 5875 at 2330; to Feb 28 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA NORTH [non]. 9985, Jan 18 at 1515, Korean at S7-S9, needs USB tuning to minimise but not eliminate huge WWCR TOMBS on 9980. This is RFA via SAIPAN, so probably off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 15600, Jan 18 at 1455, also at 1450 before the 15260 UK log, and better than it, S5-S9 M&W chat in presumed Kurdish mentioning Corona; 1458 bring up theme music under, several web addresses ending in .fm, ``Dengê Amerika`` ID and off 1459.5*. It`s VOA Kurdish via Woofferton UK as scheduled 14-15; the best extracontinental signal on band, less than Cuba, much more than WWCR, WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11540, Jan 18 at 1504, fast SAH between a talker and a musicker, surely Dengê Welat and Turkish jammer; nothing on 11530, abandoned by both. D.W. could keep the jammer hopping by hopping back and forth, why not? BTW, it`s not ``Welt`` as some keep misspelling it. Isn`t Emirler too close by skip distance on 11 MHz to Diyarbakir for effective jamming? Let`s see at distancefromto.net --- entering both names with no country, it knows both are in ``Turkey`` but puts Emirler NW of Ankara near the Black Sea, at 785 km = 488 stmi, rather than just south of Ankara as in WRTH 2021 glossy page 57, i.e. quite a bit closer; Ankara itself is 674 km = 419 stmi. Are there two Emirlers? Surely the SW site is the more famous. For jamming, maybe it partially funxion, especially to further reaches of Kurdistan and/or with high-angle takeoff. Those lucky Kurds, without an independent country of their own, yet served by SW broadcasters. But Kurdish is not ``major`` enough to be one of the languages in the ADDX lang-listings. Checking EiBi and Aoki/NDXC, I find Kurdish only from: TWR, VOA, Iran, all with religio-politico agendas; and on MW, Armenia. WRTH shows some Kurdish language domestic stations from Iran, Iraq, Turkey but not Syria (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also TURKEY ** TAIWAN [non]. 9955, Monday January 18 at 1514, WRMI-3 is on again, S9/+10, extended to diffuse unscheduledly `Freedom Synergy Radio` discussing Taiwan`s growing wine industry with 200 varieties of grapes; take that, China mainland! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11815.020, Jan 18 at 1506, VOT Turkish, S7-S9 and slightly off-frequency as usual; checked for comparison to the jamming on 11540 against KURDISTAN [non], q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U K. 15260, Jan 18 at 1455, S5-S6 of few notes of JBA music, recognizable theme of Babcock/Encompass Woofferton, ``this is a`` test transmission and off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) see also KURDISTAN [non] ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2069 monitoring: confirmed Sunday January 17 from 2300:20 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6159.935, S9/+10 direct; following WBCQ IS & ID loop, no A51 ID or sign-on but a bit of music before WOR start. (Meanwhile, the other WBCQ, with `UBMP`, is not much better, on 7490.173v.) Also confirmed UT Monday January 18 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, good direct, following usual Bob Zanotti second ID attempt overridden. Also confirmed UT Mon Jan 18 at 0230 on WRMIs: 5800, S9+5/15 via Bonaire; 7780, S9+10/20 via UTwente; also on WRN web/satcast. Next: Also confirmed Mon Jan 18 from 1900:44 on IRRS 7290 Bulgaria; via UTwente, timing compared to WWV direct, but UTw can`t get any timesignals, except something on 5000-LSB with no minute pip. How do European clockwatchers manage? Plenty strong at S9+25, after cut/on at *1854:51 vs the splash, but by 1859:52 IRRS sign-on, the splash from 7280 Vietnam and 7295 East Turkistan, both also in English, becomes severe. Usual 3 headlines from FSN between s/on and WOR start. ACI not so bad by end at 1929:44, respectful 2-second pause before IRRS ID ``from south of the Alps``, FSN more than headlines. Next: 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 [to resume?] to SSE 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW [still needs confirmation] 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Brandon Jordan, TN, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com and commenting: ``Heya Glenn. JBA here and weak at best even at Bonaire: on the cadena dx fb Jan 14, ROCV engineer Gregorio Kina posted, ``Potencia 50 watios antena v invertida cale eliax 1/2 pulgada`` --- I guess that is supposed to be ``cable``, antenna measuring half an inch diameter? BTW, until I see a YV- callsign applied to this, or other official info, I am going to assume this be a pirate, but I bet FRW isn`t interested (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7830-AM, Jan 18 at 1516, S9+10 open carrier as if a broadcaster, but could be a ute such as RTTY standby; also the usuals on 6860 and stronger 6810. 7830 gone at 1614 recheck (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2041 UT January 18 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
