** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Oct 31 at 1457-1558, periodic chex via Brasil SDR find no signal from LRA36, despite having told Manuel Méndez that their ``final`` broadcast of 2020y on Oct 28 would be played back today starting at 1500. So then I go looking for Marconi Radio International: see EUROPE. However, rechecking for RNASG at 1614 finds it has now come on, an hour late, at S5-S7; 1735 talking about the pandemia; 1907 still on at S8-S9, ``ésta es una experiencia inolvidable``, presumably wintering in Antarctica; reading several greetings from listeners, or family? Altho quite a readable signal now, just barely visible on the waterfall, less even than 15190 Inconfidência, much less than 15580 & 15730 VOA; 1910 song; 1911 IDs in Spanish, German, English (that it`s in Spanish), and another, sounds Korean but not a RAE language, on `Corazón Antártico` show.. 2010 recheck still going with greetings; 2038 music; still past 2100. Concludes at 2133-2137* with ``Antártida`` theme song and off without further sign-off. Hard to copy lyrix but includes ``hielo, hielo, y más hielo``. I recorded it and maybe will play it on WOR sometime? I also go searching for it. There are two or three Antártida songs in Spanish, but none match this one. Now may we say hasta luego, hasta el otoño sur? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** EUROPE. 7720-USB, Oct 31 at *1559, Marconi Radio National comes on for publicized 16-17 broadcast, VP S5-S6 via UTwente, first with IS and IDs; 1601 YL gives address in English; then in Italian, German, French; 1602 some music, 1605 Italian talk and I suspect the rest of show will be in that language, anyhow too weak. Back to Antarctica (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUINEA. 9650, Oct 31 at 0614, hilife music and French talk, S4-S5, presumed Conakry as recently reactivated. Have not heard them at later dayparts nor seen many other reports, so wonder if active mornings only. Manuel Méndez, Spain, who discovered them back Oct 27 until at least 0905, says they cut off at 0737 Oct 28. Dave Kenny replied on the WOR iog, ``Great to have Guinea back on SW. I first noted it back on 9650 kHz at 1710 tune-in on Friday 23rd October, during the recent Sheigra [Scotland] DXpedition``. Beware of North Korea on 9650, but per Arnulf does not start until 0730, all in Japanese until 1317v and also 2130-2417v (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, Oct 31 at 2357, SFX, 2358 countdown, Nov 1 at 0007 frenetic; 0042 still going but weaker. These say it`s Radio 48: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,73666.0.html It has been the only station audible here on this pirate band, despite lots of others reported at HFU, as expected for Hallowe`en. In fact Chris Gay in KY told the WOR iog he was getting 5 pirates in the 6900s before 2130. This further reinforces my conclusion that the great majority of these pirates are well east of the Mississippi, and for some reason few of them like to run late into the night when propagation further west might be better (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, Oct 31 by 1600 UT, KUCO has solved its fibre-optic feed problem and is back on air modulating as well as webcasting, in time for `The Score`, one of my favorites, cinemusic. Perhaps they should consider a backup setup, like a plain old 900-MHz STL transmitter. Webcasting should not have been interrupted either (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SLOVENIA. 18130-USB, Oct 31 at 1450, S51DX calling QRZ and CQ: per https://www.qrz.com/lookup/s51dx ``S51DX Slovenia flag Slovenia, JANEZ CELARC, Susnikova cesta 9, 1360 VRHNIKA, Slovenia`` --- Also refers us to his own: http://www.qsl.net/s51dx/index.html Not much else on ``17`` m. Call seems familiar. Yes! I had logged him in *2014y* on 10m: ``SLOVENIA. 28505.6-USB, March 28 at 1434, QRZ and CQ from S51DX, almost-American accent...`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non].
