** CANADA. 6754-USB, Oct 9 at 0612, Trenton Military still off pending frequency fix.
15034.0-USB, Oct 9 at 1421, CHR is back on air and back on frequency after foray to 15035.8-USB and then silence. Replies to my previous: Richard Lacroix at 0203 UT October 9: ``Glenn, In reference to your Oct 8 post, I was in conversation and worked with the technical crew at MACS Trenton Thursday morning in reference to your initial post and the off frequency issue. Upon initial investigation, MACS confirmed that there was no apparent fault being reported from the remote transmitter site but this was apparent when we monitored it from a remote receiver site and the spectrum / waterfall display. A decision was then made to broadcast using a different transmitter, but as noted, this seems to be silent. MACS Trenton is aware of the issues and have dispatched a technical crew to the site. The services are not closed or taking a break but merely experiencing some technical difficulties and will resume once corrective maintenance has been completed. Richard`` Don VE6JY Moman, Alberta, Oct 9: ``just checked this morning at 1556 Z, Trenton weather broadcasts are back on 15034. Guess they got the problem resolved.`` Art Delibert, Maryland at 1839 Oct 9: ``Glenn -- FYI, I heard a broadcast from Trenton on 15034 beginning at 1830 today. Extremely weak -- I'm probably in the skip zone for such a high frequency, but they were there and on frequency. I know Bill Hepburn lists them as starting at 10 minutes after hour; I didn't hear anything then`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Oct 9 at 1357: none WOOB in the 13s, 12s, or 11s, but 10920 JBA until 1400*. Retune at 1420, however, JBA carrier back on 10920; maybe really Sound of Hope? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** COLOMBIA? 4940, Oct 9 at 2209, no signal yet via TWR Bonaire SDR, from anonymous mystery missionary station; probably opens circa 2300, and underway with gospel huxter in Spanish at 2342, S9+5 peaks, SAM carrier offsets varying minus 5 to 6 Hz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 19, Oct 9 circa 1500 UT, no DTV signal from KAUT ``43``, OKC. There is some tropo with fog around, but no DX decoding. The other OKCs are nominal or even better such as iffy RF 16 KOCM. KAUT is either off the air, QRP, or blocked by a DX signal: great ATSC 1.0 DTV system makes it impossible to be sure of which. I look for possible QRM sources but W9WI.com is currently showing only Canadian listings, computer problems accessing FCC data. No 19 on either of my outside antennas; and at 2051 UT check, not on my third set with rabbit ears which normally gets it when positioned just right. As I recall, KAUT has been chosen as ``host transmitter`` for other stations in the new ATSC 3.0 system, so maybe it`s down now for some reconfiguration. After 2 or 3 months down on the roof following a windstorm, my Ch 7-13 and 14+ Hi VHF/UHF antenna has been reërected, a 2-hour, 2-person job accomplished Oct 7 at 15-17 UT. It`s as good as before, which is not good enough to capture a solid signal from, KETA ``13``, PBS with three subchannels, World, Create, and Kids. -3 and -4 are not available on cable! And 1 and -2 are usually degraded to monophonic on cable. I continue to blame this on the second harmonic of local KNID 107.1 messing up the RF 13 videoband at 214.2 MHz, roughly off the back of the antenna aimed SSE toward OKC. A better front/back ratio might help but should not be necessary (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** THAILAND. 9390, Oct 9 at 1304, R. Thailand in English news, VP S6 and LSB required to avoid 9395-TOMBS via WRMI. 1309 commercials and IDs/promos for ``FM 88`` its main domestic ID, also FM 95.5 and AM 918 from Radio Thailand, Public Relations Department of the Royal Thai Government. The latter is only 10 kW in Bangkok, vs 600 kW from Cambodia`s #1 frequency, and which had some news in English when I was in Korat 50 years ago. A bit more international news until 1314 gongs, pause, 1315 resume, English announcement introducing Mandarin. The point of this is: 1300-1315 is supposed to be in Japanese, but one of the languages temporarily? suspended. Dr Hj Biener suggests it`s because funding for free-lance language staff run out before a fiscal year end, as the same has happened with German. There is a minor beam change at 1314 from 54 to 30 degrees, both of which are much more favorable for us than 132 degrees for the original English semihours at 1230 & 1400: if only those could be aimed USward and axually reach us in mornings while the so-called North American service evenings after 0000 on 15590 does not. All of course via USAGM Udorn, while HSK9 should insist on using Grimesland NC for us. As expected, at 1422 presumably in English, 9390 is now JBA. Substitute English at 1300 should be savoured while it last (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 420-MCW kHz, Oct 9 at 0622 UT, ND beacon FQ, fading out; it`s 25 watts from Fairmont, Minnesota, which is right next to Iowa at the center of the southern border between Albert Lea and Worthington. I was tuned to 418-USB. 379-MCW kHz, Oct 9 at 0625 UT, ND beacon DL, which is 50 watts from Duluth -- Pike Lake, Minnesota. Tuned to 377-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Some jumped to the conclusion that site must be T8WH PALAU, which per our exclusive info last week, is planning a comeback November 1 as Hope Radio out of West Virginia, but would be testing before then; but 9955 was not mentioned or registered as one of their frequencies, and furthermore someone found that it was inaudible at Hanoi SDR, yet audible via Russia into Europe. Wolfgang Bueschel now says those tests are really via Dushanbe, TAJKISTAN. This also applies to 9930 which was the #1 frequency of KWHR/T8BZ/T8WH, and which here at 1303 has nothing, but at 1305 seems VP 2-way in unknown language on LSB. 9965 is another possible Palau frequency and there is a JBA carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5970, Oct 9 at 0607, no signal from WEWN Spanish, normally regular and other US stations are loud on 5850, 5890, 5935, 5950. Also absent is 9385 WEWN English altho that could be above the MUF. 15610 English and 12050 Spanish are apparently back on, Oct 9 at 2056 and 2102 as JBA carrier and JBA respectively (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505, Oct 9 at 0609, the revived WRNO still gospel huxter in English, S8-S9; had been reported overnight in Chinese or something, but must start later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490.10, Oct 9 at 2107, `Behaviour Night` on Fridays via WBCQ off-frequency+plus again after a while slightly minus. I wonder if all these be NSS in Maryland, jumping to different frequencies intentionally or not? Vs some CODAR here too (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 5040, Oct 9 at 0604, JBA carrier after RHC normally closes, while 5025 Rebelde retains S9+20 tho undermodulated. Could be RHC on exciter, not completely off? Or VANUATU? 5040 is one of their registered frequencies but has not been in use.
