** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey Aug 24 at 1410, after most of them have quit at 1400*: none in the 16s, 14s, 13s or 12s, but 15110 good and confirmed as such by // 10820 at 1454 an echo apart. Meanwhile only ones detected at 1410 are 11460 JBA carrier, 10870, and at S2-S4, 10820; none in the 11s or 9s either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 7310-7385, Aug 24 at 0600, jammming bleed over this entire range from the combined heavy noise centered on 7335 and 7365 which is completely unnecessary with Radio Martí totally off the air after 0400! Something`s always wrong at DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Aug 24 at 0629, the only 9-kHz JBA carrier is here, presumed R. Kiribati, an hour really too late for Eurafrica even if propagable before, yet too early for further Pacificans --- well, almost, just after sunset in wintry NZ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. Replying to my report of missing VOT `Letterbox` the past two weeks, Alan Roe, UK, says, ``Glenn - the "Letterbox" programme of 12/15 Aug was, I think, a repeat of the previous week's edition, and there was no "Letterbox" programme on 19/22 Aug --- so you haven't missed anything! Hopefully there'll be a new edition this coming week. Alan Roe, Teddington, UK.`` And Hansjoerg Biener, Germany, says, ``According to information received from the German service earlier this month, the Voice of Turkey is still operating in a covid19 mode. It is said that only one technician is in the studio building at a time taking up all responsibilities. During the German broadcast, only one member is present taking care of the news segment and some bureau work. Other parts of the programmes are repeats. The mailbag is cancelled for the time being. The producers are expected to leave the building after the broadcast. One might think that the situation at the transmitter site is similar which would explain the additional scheduling errors observed by others short wave listeners (Dr Hansjoerg Biener 24 August 2020)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13565-CW, Aug 24 at 1408, JBA IDs only from HIFER beacon K6FRC in Patterson CA. I check for this almost every morning, nor do I anymore hear anyothers in the 13550-13570 ISM band, but K6FRC last logged June 9, tho I did hear the 10-watt, 10-meter K6FRC/B on 28300 from Tracy on July 28; and July 2 when I see I typoed the frequency to 29300! The one on 13565 is notable whenever heard with publicized power of only *1.8 milliwatts*! And I never hear it any other time of day so can only wonder whether it`s always on or not (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Correxion: 2210 and 2200 UT, not 2310 & 2300! I can`t wait to resume standard time? Fixed: ``WORLD OF RADIO 2048 monitoring: confirmed first WRMI airing, Friday August 21 at 2210 the 2200 on 9955, good into BSR-1 caradio on a non-DXpedition a few statute miles north of Enid; no jamming audible.`` Confirmed UT Monday August 24 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct --- but 0054 recheck, the transmitter is off! Unknown for how long. Also confirmed UT Mon Aug 24 at 0130 & 0230 on WRMI 7780, VG S9+20 at UTwente; also WRN webcast at 0130. Also confirmed UT Mon Aug 24 ending at 0258 on WRMI 7780 after tip from Walt Salmaniw, BC: ``I did note WOR on 5800 at 02:53 tune-in at excellent level. 73, Walt`` --- surprise! the 0230-0300 block on 5800 is blank, unaccounted for all days of week on WRMI skedgrid. So replaces 0300 UT Sun on 5800? Hope it stix. More change info below. Also confirmed UT Mon Aug 24 from 0259.6 on Area 51 via WBCQ 5130, S8-S9 at a Rochester NY KiwiSDR. BUT cuts off the air for 2 minutes as I am listening, 0311*-*0313. Also confirmed UT Mon Aug 24 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, unusually inaudible where it`s aimed, at TWR Bonaire SDR, but S5-S7 at Rochester; 0338 check here, S7 to S9+10 but keeps fading down further to at least S5. Meanwhile, Jeff White replied to my request for some new times: ``Glenn: WOR 0130 UTC Thursday 5850 and 0330 UTC Tuesday on 5800, effective immediately. Jeff``. So adding those to NEXTs: 1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE [NEW] 2100+UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5850 to NW [NEW] Good but unfortunately this means the best broadcast across USA on 5850 will be the last airing of the week rather than the first, as I am not inclined to change my produxion schedule to earlier than Thursday afternoons. Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks for financial support from Samuel Sánchez, podcast listener, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com - not necessarily in US funds as PP will convert One may also contribute by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Minor DX-pedition to 35 km north of Enid on US 81 to carry out AM & FM bandscans on caradio, Sunday afternoon Aug 23 from 2140 to 2215 UT: 750, at 2140 no KMMJ Grand Island NE, apparently still temporarily off by STA pending sale. Has unusual L3 license, i.e. almost daytime, direxional tangent west with 10.5 kW, but used to be JBA here; and neighbor 880 KRVN is always audible daytime tnx to the Ogallala Aquifer. However at 2208 I can detect a slow SAH of 64/min, slightly over 1 Hz apart. The only others nearby are KSEO Durant OK, 220 watt daytimer on the other side of the state, very difficult here; and KBNN Lebanon, center of MO, 5 kW ND daytimer which I have heard several times; unless KMMJ really be on but QRP like 1130 KLEY (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) 1130, Aug 23 at 2142, I expect silence as KLEY Wellington KS, just across from OK, has not been heard at Enid HQ for months, after transmitter troubles, and suspected off for good. But now I have JBA music, certainly not sportive KWKH Shreveport, which despite 50 kW ND daytime does not reach this far some 500 km by groundwave. We drive a few km further north, to about a km south of the US 64/60/81 intersexion, helpfully away from some powerlines, and hear at 2154 a partial ID of ``point 3`` and rock song playing just past 2200; 2201, ``KLEY 1130 AM and --- 100.3 FM --- wellington.net -- The home of --- sports, what capitol of the world``. [Enid disputes that!] This is still a really tiny signal, vs many other further loud Kansans like 1150 KSAL, 1280 KSOK. KLEY is licensed for 250 watts day, ONE WATT night, and I can easily believe this *is* that one watt if not whatever the exciter may rate. Their 100.3 FM translator, really K262CQ, ``The Wave`` is what counts, and this much ittybitty AM to simulcast keeps it legal. Anyway this makes KLEY 1130 quite a DX target further away since I can`t even hear it inside Enid. OTOH, note my report from 2019y: ``1130, Sept 20 at 1853 UT check, KLEY Wellington KS is OFF again. Still off at 1705 UT check Sept 21. It had been on since August 26 after a long hiatus since at least May 3`` --- another scenario is that it really has been totally off and just barely turned back on now to keep its license before a full year be elapsed. I had never heard it since then. 1157 & 1183, at 2203, IBOC noise is definitely ON from 1170 KFAQ Tulsa at this time, blocking anything possible on 1160 & 1180. 1370, still no trace of KGNO Dodge City KS at 2205, which I have not been able to detect in years, day or night, 5000/230 watts, and suspect OFF but it continues to be listed as if active. It would be nice if we had someone in Dodge to try to hear it, maybe QRP too? It used to be easy to Enid at least SR/SS. I check 1370 whenever I am N/W of Enid. 1440, gospel huxter in English, VP at 2205, must be KEXB University Park (Metroplex) TX in its latest incarnation, Relevant Radio, barely making it here with 50 kW daytime this high in band, not Topeka. On FM, not much of interest and am running out of time, but: 105.7, at 2214 ``Classic Hits 105.7``, adstring and rock music --- and same stuff on 106.1! but with one radio can`t tell whether synchronized. 105.7 is 50/50 kW KRDR Alva, while 106.1 is weaker with CCI from something else. Nearest ``classic hits`` format if not slogan on 106.1 in WTFDA DB is 60/60 kW KYVZ Atwood KS, way up in the NW corner beyond Colby. But 100 kW KXKU Lyons KS is closer, in between. Other possible 106.1s in OK are KBZI 50/50 kW in Mooreland west of here almost Woodward, with ``80s hits`` -- close enough to classic by now? and KTGK 100/100 kW Owasso almost Tulsa, country (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. `Feminine Fusion` is an excellent show I have been following on KUCO OKC 90.1 or webcast, Sundays at 2100-2200 UT -- usually a few minutes late due to preceding programs overrunning. About classical music composed or performed by women. I haven`t found an affiliate list for it and it`s totally missing from publicradiofan.com --- which I fear is not being updated, but it`s so huge that that would be a full-time job? Searching out I have found a few other stations carrying FF on Saturdays or Sundays including this one in Philadelphia, UT Mondays 0200 in case we miss it on KUCO: https://www.wrti.org/programs/feminine-fusion Also WIAA and WXXI. More about it from the distributor: https://exchange.prx.org/series/38388-feminine-fusion where it seems you may listen to any of 100+ episodes. The KUCO scheduling clashes with another all?-feminine show, `Marion`s Attic` on WBCQ, and I bet neither program realizes that (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 6135, Aug 24 at 1404, JBA talk as the 49mb is almost outfaded here except for 6170 NZ; could this be anything but MADAGASCAR long-path? I`ve asked Ron Howard (Glenn Hauser, OK WOR) This report dispatched at 1700 UT August 24
