Thanks to Colin Newel for fielding a few phone calls while I was putting this together tonight and was a bit confused/stuck
Initial testing of my new Pennant Antenna vs Loop is pretty promising here in Laramie, WY. I take my AM gear down mid spring and put it up near the end of the summer The loop and pennant are both pointed east west, but the pennant has a null to the east. They are set up in a "lashed up" way that is not optimal and somewhat temporary, as I wanted to make sure everything worked before I made it permanent On the pennant, classical music from KKNS 1310 Corrales/ABQ. New Mexico is audible well at times. On the loop its a schloppy mess of KKNS, KFKA and sometimes KGLB rising up nicely. On 1120, the pennant reveals a noisy KMOX. The loop.. KMOX is quite nice and loud. On the loop, KTWO is loud on 1030. On the pennant antenna. KTWO is noisy as heck, revealing an occasional XESDD. On 650, KGAB is pretty good on the loop. On the pennant antenna, KGAB is weak as crap with a KMTI audible. KGAB is an 850 Watt 3 tower DA pointed right at me from 40 miles away. On the loop, Radio Rebelde mixes with KNUS on 710, both are audible. On the pennant, RR is much weaker and KNUS is very noisy On 750, WSB is kinda sorta there on the loop. On the pennant antenna, its spanish music from KAMA El Paso, TX On 830, WCCO is quite nice on the loop. On the pennant, theyre almost useless.. very noisy. On 850, KOA is very loud on the loop. On the pennant, its noisy On 940, KPSZ Des Moines is decent at times on the loop, very noisy on the pennant. on 1660, KBRE Merced is a little stronger and clearer on the pennant vs loop _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
