Glenn Hauser logs July 25-26,, 2020
Sunday, July 26 2020

Hauser
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-CUSB. After the July 25 LRA36 special
supposedly ended, we got word via Horacio Nigro G. that it was being
extended all-night until 13 UT July 26! My Brazilian remote is still
tuned there as I am about to check it for WOR on WRMI 5800, but July
26 at 0259 nothing from RNASG except a possible trace, as you would
expect on 19m in the middle of a winter night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. FM DX: see USA [and non]

** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, July 26 at 0044, S5-S7 pirate music in
noise level. Many logs here say it`s Mix Radio International:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,69849.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. FM logs: see U S A, mixed in

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2044 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday July 26
at 0300 on WRMI 5800, fair at Brasilia SDR.

Also confirmed at 0327 midpoint until ending at 0342 UT Sun July 26 on
WA0RCR, 1860 AM, Wentzville MO, via Edinburgh IN KiwiSDR, good but
with some storm noise. Next:
0700 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 3210-USB
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW
0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE

Thanks this week for financial support from Richard Langley,
Fredericton NB, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at
yahoo.com -- not necessarily in US funds as they will convert

One may also contribute via MO or check in US funds on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, UT Sun July 26 at 0045, WTWW-2 (not 3 as I typoed last
time) with Theatre Organ [not] in the Ozarx is underway so I switch to
$ tereo webcast where it runs until 0100 sharp, so must be on-time for
a change at 0030. BTW did you know that WTWW has FOUR transmitters?
Not really but the Listen Live dropdown shows TXs 1, 2, 3, and 4, each
with different music except PPPP on #1 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Shortly after I`ve finished hearing ANTARCTICA on
HF, tho it`s still musicking, I recheck the DX Map and see the
sporadic E MUF has attained some 100+ MHz spots to the SE of here, so
now it`s worth an FM DX session; in the car in the hot but at least
not directly insolated garage; with secondary DX-398 out the window
but seldom helpful. None of the following are strong or steady enough
to energize RDS. Vertical caradio antenna only so no DFing or
manipulation. Distances are approx., city-to-Enid. July 25, by UT
time order:

1954, 93.5, unID Spanish phone-quality talk briefly over KS, fades

1955, 91.9, politico-religious talk in English holding own against
91.7 KOSU at peaks, but fading as if Es, not Kansas. Back up, virus
conspiracy nonsense, 1959 AFA promo, ad for `Mid-East Report`. AFA
means the far-Christian American Family Association, which runs the
AFR network out of Tupelo MS.

One must first suspect the closest, KBDD Winfield KS, but which is
normally inaudible here. Wikipedia shows 14 AFR stations on 91.9 but
three of them including KBDD are *former*. Besides a few translators
including one in Elk City OK, there are also 91.9s in GA, LA(2), MS,
NC, TN, TX, WV. Most likely WASW, Waycross GA, 18 kW, judging from a
following GA log. And this one does not reappear during following
hour. I went to Wiki since WTFDA Database had no hits on AFA; but yes,
if you put full name American Family Radio in Slogan field you get
more or less the same 91.9s, 12 of them. Waycross 1543 km = 959 stmi

2001, 95.3 over KOKC translator, surprised to hear something in French
as not expecting Canada; even more surprised that it`s a PSA about
*Yucatán*, and then into Spanish. Lots of Québec visitors there? The
only Yucatecan on 95.3 is:
``XHMH-FM relaying AM 970 95.3 MÉRIDA YUC MEX 25.0 kW H&V 107.0m HAAT
20-57-58 89-37-27 Spanish REGIONAL MEXICAN CANDELA FM`` 1893 km = 1176
st mi

This rings some bells; my previous log in 2013y, June 24: ```0113 on
95.3, ``Candela, La Más Grande``, elexions PSA in Spanish and also in
Maya! Then ode to Yucatán sung in Spanish, axually a PSA from El
Gobierno del Estado. This is XHMH, 10 kW in Mérida, // 970, says
Cantú, and you may recall was briefly relayed several years ago on SW
6105 before that transmitter crashed, for good?```

2002, 97.5, ``ESPN Radio``, CCI, fades. WTFDA shows three translators
in CO, NC and PA, and more likely but tentatively:
``KFNC 97.5 MONT BELVIEU TX 3.0 kW H&V 172.0 m HAAT 29-46-07 95-01-05
HD IE88 ESPN - SPORTS ESPN HOUSTON 97.5`` and its booster:
``KFNC-FM1 KFNC 97.5 97.5 HOUSTON TX 2.0 kW H&V 0.0 m HAAT!29-49-06
95-01-04 SPORTS ESPN HOUSTON 97.5`` 779 km = 484 stmi to Belvieu

2004, 99.3, ads for Shaw`s in Tampa(?), and definitely for Town Fair
Tires, i.e. Toyo brand, then sports talk, or is it an axual baseball
game, before fadeout? But there are no 99.3s in Tampa proper; Shaw`s
Grocery and Town Fair Tires both operate *only* in New England. No
99.3s in CT and the other 5 states have at least one but none of much
power. N.E. is not only far out of the PTA now, but beyond normal skip
range, e.g. Boston at 1484 miles. No sports formats listed anyway,
altho Fort Myers Beach FL has WWCN, 45 kW with ESPN. Could they have
been carrying a game vs a N.E. team with local ads from there? I would
certainly rather log Block Island... 1868 km = 1161 stmi from FMB

2005, 99.3, very brief Spanish CCI to above before both be gone

2010, 93.3, Jake FM in OKC getting CCI, ads on one, music on other

2012, 96.7, nothing nearby, but CCI, one of which is C&W

2015, 93.1, Spanish music. No SS listed in FL, GA or Yucatan

2016, 95.1, dead air vs CCI; eventually hear some gospel huxter which
would be OK, so that leaves Wichita KICT; or a local neighborhood
feeder? Continues entire hour and even later. See next below for DX

2023, 95.1, plug for Panama City Beach, ``Mix 95.1``. Of the six FL on
95.1, the one just north of PCB is this:
``WBPC 95.1 EBRO FL 21.0 kW H&V 91.0 m HAAT 30-26-39 85-52-38 58D4 THE
BEACH - CLASSIC HITS BEACH 95.1, THE GULF COAST'S GREATEST HITS``
1294 km = 804 stmi

2024, 93.7. unusual CCI to KSPI Stillwater OK, must be DX: ``Y-93.7``
--- but I`m faked out by a fringe groundwaver, the only such non-ID:
``KYEZ 93.7 SALINA KS 100.0 kW H&V 155.0 m HAAT 38-57-14 97-36-29 4FE1
Y93.7 - COUNTRY Y93.7`` 273 km = 170 stmi

2028, 101.5, Spanish ID as ``Radio Salvación, 93.9``. For the record,
I know this is merely Okie, the real station repeating an -LP:
``KOCD relaying KWDW-LP 101.5 OKEENE OK 14.0 kWH only 88.0 m HAAT
36-07-11 98-15-45 Spanish 352F kocd SPANISH RELIGIOUS RADIO SALVACIÓN
LIBERTAD EN CRISTO MINISTRIES,`` 75 km = 48 stmi

2031, 94.9, unID rock in Spanish, tight squeeze vs 94.7/95.1 Okies

2032, 92.9, Valdosta GA ad, ergo:
``WAAC 92.9 VALDOSTA GA 100.0 kW H&V 153.0 m HAAT 30-48-13 83-21-20
9430 WAACFM 92.9 Country COUNTRY 92.9 ALL AMERICAN COUNTRY`` 1485 km =
922 stmi

2042, 93.5, Spanish 3:43 TC, 21 grados en ``93.5, Estéreo Sentillo``?

I am not at all sure of that word, Sentido would make some sense. I
hunt thru the 300+ WTFDA entries on 93.5, and find no slogan similar
beyond Cuba, which would be a VG catch almost 1500 miles:
``CMHC-FM 93.5 SANTA CLARA VC CUB 1.0 kWH only 35.0 m HAAT 22-24-26
79-57-50 Spanish VARIETY ESTÉREO CENTRO`` if so, 2323 km = 1444 stmi

A Google search is also unproductive, except that smarty suggests it
could be Saltillo, which had not yet occurred to me, and by golly,
there is such a station in Coahuila with that slogan:
https://www.multimedios.com/radio/programas/stereo-saltillo-935-fm
altho it does not appear in WTFDA entry; another area not expecting
skip from, and rock music fits:
``XHQC-FM 93.5 SALTILLO COAH MEX 15.0 kW H&V -36.0 m HAAT! 25-24-47
101-00-19 Spanish 1314 XHQC-FM SPANISH TEEN HITS - JUVENIL HITS FM``
1256 km = 780 stmi

2044, 94.9 squeezed, ``M-C-K 94.9`` jingle after ad, and fade out.
This must be it, another fringe-area fakeout:
``KNCK 94.9 CONCORDIA KS 100.0 kW H&V 161.0 m HAAT 39-26-19 97-42-16
HOT AC NCK 94.9`` 338 km = 210 stmi

2045, 97.3, QSI ad, Community Structures, which I take to be a
business name, but search indicates these could be scientific terms;
QSI has too many meanings:
https://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/QSI
including Quality Solutions Inc., Wichita KS
But then at 2046 a non ID as ``Q-97``, which fits for another non-Es:
``KKJQ 97.3 GARDEN CITY KS 100.0 kW H&V 244.0 m HAAT 37-46-48
100-27-36 2B62 KKJQ THE DAWG - COUNTRY Q 97 FM`` (again at 0030 below)
317 km = 197 stmi

2046, 97.3, vs above station, Spanish DJ fades in, ``Número Uno``,
rock, and out again. No hits as a slogan, maybe just generic claim.

2051, 96.5, Spanish ``105 FM`` JBA. Only hit of a Spanish on 96.5
relaying something 105+ is:
``K243BI KBIC 105.7 96.5 WESLACO TX 0.25 kw H&V 50.0 m HAAT 26-09-52
98-00-59 Spanish SPANISH RELIGIOUS RADIO VIDA`` If so, 1138 km = 707
stmi

2051, 95.1, soft Spanish conversation overcomes open carrier, unID

2055, 97.5, Eagle Radio, ad for Candlewood Frame Shop, weather from
KSNG Storm Track. Search on the Shop leads right to Manhattan KS. KSNG
would be the far Garden City TV satellite of KSNW Wichita, so more
likely KSNT in closer Topeka. It must be this near Manhattan:
``KJCK 97.5 JUNCTION CITY KS 100.0 kW H&V 192.0 m HAAT 39-00-53
96-52-12 2802 Top 40 CONTEMPORARY HIT RADIO POWER HITS 97.5``
but the only Eagle slogan on 97.5 WTFDA hits is in Bristol VT. However
searching shows there is an Eagle connexion unknown to WTFDA:
https://eagleradio.net/services/radio/kjck
307 km = 191 stmi

So, I am inadvertently exploring fringe Kansas radio along with the
real sporadic E DX, which seems diminishing, and I`m ready to cool
off.

DX Map shows some more 100+ MHz MUF, so back to the car UT July 26:

0010, 93.3, Jake in OKC getting some CCI but never breaks thru

0012, 95.1, the dead air carrier is still on

0014, 98.3, dead air now, but back later from semi-local KQZQ Kiowa KS
just over the border - 88 km = 55 stmi

0015, 101.5, dead air here too from KOCD Okeene as heard earlier

0016, 102.3, ``Classic Communications, thanks for listening`` AF
Reserve PSA, fadeout, back wth C.C. weather, low 72, Q-102. The C-C-
name is missing from WTFDA but obviously this:
``KWDQ 102.3 WOODWARD OK 100.0 kW H&C 264.5 m HAAT 36-22-31 99-28-31
4A76 Title & Artist KWDQ PURE ROCK Q102.3 WOODWARD PURE ROCK Q102``
136 km = 85 stmi

0023, 96.5, Mix 96.5 Tulsa with CCI in Spanish; 0025 partial ID for
``---- y 96.5 FM`` maybe after an AM frequency

0030, 97.3, promo app to get KKJQ Q-97, again, see above at 2045
(Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)
