Glenn Hauser logs May 4-5, 2020
Tuesday, May 05 2020

Hauser
** CUBA. 7350, May 5 at 1347, RHC still here but poor, ex-7340 where
there is algo, presumably NK clandestine from Tajikistan; but QSY may
be more to avoid own jamming and Radio Martí, very strong on 7335.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, May 5 at 1354, RHC is S9+10 but suptorted, unusual for
this legacy frequency; wiggle that patchcord!

13740, May 5 at 1358, S9 and suptorted even worse. Somethings always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13490, 13559, 13630; 13771, 13841, 13910, 13981 approx., May
5 at 1355, spurblob panoply at 70-71 kHz intervals out of RHC
13700-AM. Best audible in FM mode, always with F# tone above Cmiddle.
13559 and 13770 are VG S9, the outermost ones JBA. But at 1400 all go
silent as modulation stops; after breakfast of pineapple, next check
at 1432 they are all back. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11880, May 5 at 1518, CRI English relay is back on, after at
least two days` missing. Something`s not wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7457-USB, May 5 at 1345, MARS net 4TX2, presumably referring
to Texas, NCS AFA4VO calling for contacts and one comes from AFA4WP
with relays, both fonetik.

Much more detailed logs of this frequency including AFA4VO:
https://www.w4uvh.net/dxld8031.txt
from 12+ years ago, and briefly 3- years ago:
http://www.w4uvh.net/dxld1735.txt
Google searching on AFA4VO it`s amazing how many non-MARS false hits,
like license plates, stuff in Chinese, etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2032 monitoring: confirmed Monday
May 4 from 1800:40 on IRRS 7290-Romania? via UTwente.

Strong carrier came on at *1756 diminishing but not eliminating splash
from 7280 & 7300; 1759 cut on modulation talking about crisis, RNA;
soon cut that off for canned IRRS sign-on again advising, wrongly,
that this is on compatible reduced-carrier USB, best tuned in that
mode! NOT, never by this site, just full carrier AM/DSB, but probably
was long ago when really out of Milano. 1800 three FSN headlines, then
into WOR. Despite no ACI from 7295 & 7285, even with narrow bandwidth,
7290 still suffers some kind of QRM, apparently splash from SSS -
stilted Spanish from 7280 Vietnam. And 7300 German is also strong from
Iran until 1820. 1830 longer FSN stories from Washngton, into Dan
Roberts` `Shortwave Report`; again his final brief item is from
Sputnik about dying Capitalism, but not brief enough, not to be
chopped off in time for 1859 IRRS sign-off.

WOR 2032 also confirmed UT Tue May 5 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, S9+10 but
noisy here from heavy storms in SE OK. Next:

2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:

Just noticed May 5 on the WRMI skedgrid an additional time for WOR on
WRMI, finally back on the air Saturday night: UT Sunday 0300 on 5800
(and follows revived Radio Tirana at 0230 UT Sun & Mon); to be
confirmed. 5800 is WRMI-10 at 160 degrees, same as WRMI-3 on 9955, but
5800 is always good here, never MUFed out nor jammed like 9955 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. What`s on WRMI, UT Tue May 5 at 0112+:
5010 // 5850, Alameda Bible Fellowship Robotnik
5800, RTI in Spanish
9395, RAE in English, S9+10/20
9455, Hal Turner insanity, S9+10/30

This is another anomaly example: 9395 & 9455 are supposed to be on
exactly the same antenna azimuth 355 degrees, and 100 kW power, only
60 kHz apart so propagation identical. Yet, 9455 is noticeably
stronger.

As for Turner, Dr Hansjoerg Biener comments on my previous log:

``I was there too, but earlier. You should have heard what Hal Turner
had to say in defence of President Trump's disinfectant injection
ideas or rather his insulting politicians and anyone else who was not
really understanding what the President said. When I first saw the
press conference excerpt I was shocked that nobody of the medical
experts stood up against it immediately. In Germany, remarks like
these add to the view of a dysfunctional presidency and to fears that
this will carry on for another term. I was rebuked on this group for
getting off topic, but in my humble opinion the short wave listening
hobby is not only about logging and verifying rare stations, measuring
off frequencies or noting irregularities, but mainly and mostly about
learning about cultural differences and reflecting about what you hear
(Dr Hansjoerg Biener 1 May 2020)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 1724 UT May 5
