WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST UPDATE MARCH 30

Hi Glenn, My latest Hitlist update.
https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm

1) Updated UTC offsets under Croatia, Germany, Greece, Romania
2) Japan - R Japan: Added second link for archived/on-demand shows

The next update will be 5 April to reflect change to UTC offset due to
DST change in New Zealand. Best wishes and 73, Alan Roe

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.97-CUSB, March 30 at 1531, RNASG, LRA36 on again
with a special, tnx tip from Manuel Méndez. Of three Brazilian
KiwiSDRs, Pardinho is maxed out as too often the case: the best one
has been getting too much publicity; wish they could increase its
capacity. JBA via the one near Rio; better at Campo, so I stick on
there for some Spanish mostly too weak to copy but ID in passing at
1538; 1545 brief feedback loop in talk, then music; 1553 full ID; 1602
this SDR times out after 30 minutes but may be restarted; Signal gone
sometime between 1615 and 1620 tho did not hear a sign-off (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 6010, March 30 at 1530, good signal with song in
Brazuguese, on the Rio KiwiSDR still tuned here from my last Colombia
check; so R. Inconfidência is certainly active from BH, at least now
in the daytime; on my way to ANTARCTICA, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. Re my two logs of VY2ZM, PEI on 1845-LSB and 1838-LSB:

``Hi Glenn, I just wanted to comment on this. WPX is the Worked
Prefixes contest, one of the big ones where they activate rarer call
letters for different countries. During contests, which go on for many
hours, the phone operators would lose their voices if they had to keep
calling CQ. So they have it pre-recorded. It often sounds much
different than their voice when they speak to stations which comes
back to the CQ. Contests are only allowed on the older bands 160 to
10, not the newer ones like 17. All the best from Ireland, and keep up
the good work. Regards, Patrick Fitzpatrick``

I was also going to enquire why bother with a VY- call instead of VE-
(or VA-). Not to deny anyone their fun, but this PX tactic seems
totally artificial; still from the same common place, PEI in this
case; administrations complicit in the game (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA [non]. 11880, March 30 at 1505, CRI Plus relay via CUBA is
now here for A-20, ex-15700 at 14-16; S9+20 and undermodulated but
sufficient today. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** IRAN [non]. 12005, March 30 at 1509, S9-S5 of song, good ME music;
in HFCC parlance it`s USAGM in Fas via WOF, i.e. Radio Farda in
Persian via Woofferton UK at 13-18; also 11-13 via LAMpertheim,
Germany (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KOREA SOUTH. 9100, March 30 at 1517, JBA carrier, no doubt Echo of
Hope; Ron Howard and I agree it was on 9095 yesterday (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 23, March 30 circa 1525 UT, underpowered KSBI OKC is
decoding thru one of my antennas with a little tropo help, viz.: 52-1
KSBI-DT, 52-2 BOUNCE, 52-3 LAFF, 52-4 GRIT, 52-5 MYSTERY, each PSIP
all-caps. This matches rabbitears.info with 51-2 as MyNetwork, but not
a.k.a. nickname ``News 9 Plus`` --- that`s only on RF 25, KWTV 9-2.
52-1 takes CBS programming sometimes when bumped off KWTV 9-1,
especially tornado season and now CV to boot (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SWAZILAND [and non]. 9585, March 30 at 1523, fast SAH between two
equal signals colliding, one in Chinese? HFCC shows TWR in
Malgache/French until 1525 and CRI Japanese from Xi`an during whole
hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TAIWAN [non]. 5800, UT Mon Mar 30 at 0129, tune-in WRMI just in
time to hear Spanish closing of RTI yet again, another week of tests
at 0100 --- or is this now permanent? Then at 0130.5 into R. Prague //
9395, replacing WOR which aired on both exactly one week ago (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [non]. 9830, March 29 at 2200, NO signal from VOT English to
N America on the first day of A-20, but no NAU RTTY either, just my
internal birdie. 2222 checking via UTwente, nothing there either, nor
on ex-5960 which was starting at 2300. Something`s always erroneous at
Emirler --- sporadic operation then and now (long before any CV
excuse).

9515, March 30 at 0337, trying again for VOT English to W North
America on new A-20 schedule from 0300. Oops, latest HFCC shows NOT
sked on 9515 like A-19, but on 7275 not only for Europe but North
America, invading our 40m hamband! and 7275 was heard the night before
by Jon Collins in UK. That I must check; the // for Asia now 6165
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2027 monitoring: reconfirmed gone
from Sunday March 29 airing at 2130 on WRMI 7780, rather something
musical on poor signal. Attrition of 7780 airings in the 21 UT hour to
zero means the remaining ones are all in the middle of the night in
European target, altho good in the evening for NE America, SE Canada
on the way.

7780, UT Mon Mar 30 at 0130, confirmed on WRMI, fair --- but NOT on
5800 like last week, nor 9395 which had been // before then. Both of
those are now carrying R. Prague International, in English, Sunday
Music Show. Permanent change, or confusion?

WRN via webcast and satellite, UT Mon Mar 30 at 0130, WOR 2027
confirmed here one UT hour earlier now that UK is on BST, even tho
this service is for N America, which timeshifted two sesquiweeks ago.

Also confirmed UT Mon Mar 30 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, fair.

Also confirmed UT Mon Mar 30 starting at 0303.5 on Area 51 webcast,
after raucous laughter from Julie`s Wild Kingdom; fair S9+10 on WBCQ
5130 at 0313 check.

Also confirmed UT Mon Mar 30 at 0337 the 0330 on WRMI 9955, fair S9
and no jamming.

Also confirmed Mon Mar 30 from 1800.5 on IRRS 7290, VG via UTwente
SDR, now shifted one UT hour earlier for summer time. Already on 7290
at 1757 with music fill, 1800 ID and one semi-minute of three FSN
headlines. And now, NO ACI from either side, nor is any sked in HFCC.
However there is some splash from 7280 Vietnam in Spanish, when
musical. Finishes at 1829.5, more FSN for about 5 minutes, then the
so-called `Shortwave Report` which if really 30 minutes (29?) long is
going to get chopped off by 1900*

Next WORs:
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

Thanks last week for financial support from Gerald T Pollard, Raleigh
NC, a generous seasonal check in US funds on a US bank, to Glenn
Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702

Thanks this week for financial support from Robert Brunner via PayPal
to woradio at yahoo.com --- PP not necessarily in US funds

Full updated schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7490v), UT Mon March 30 circa 0010 check, WBCQ webcast is
still encoring `Encore`, which supposedly ended a biweek ago. Heard an
announcement for Schumann Fantaisie in C, something by Rameau which
are not on this week`s playlist dated 28/3:
https://www.tumbril.co.uk/playlists
and apparently previous playlists are inaccessible. No complaints
about keeping classical going! Encore is still on the WBCQ 7490
program schedule for UT Monday 00-01.

9455, March 30 after 0200, `Encore` on WRMI with a good signal via
Rochester NY KiwiSDR.

BTW, Brice Avery says his day job is a hospital doctor, so he`s plenty
busy. He says there will be another Encore broadcast this Tuesday
March 31 at 1300 on WRMI 15770, which is NE toward Europe (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13685-13690-13695, March 30 at 1425, DRM noise from WINB is
gone for A20, not around 15115 either, but forgot the NF:
15745-15750-15755 at 11-17 M-F; the rest, per HFCC: 0830-1100 M-F on
9975-9980-9985; same frequency Sat & Sun 0700-1000 --- really on
weekends too now?? 0700-0830 M-F 7310-7315-7320 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 17774.991 approx., March 30 at 1501, KVOH propagating S4-S6
with jazz, nice for a change, but not for long: ID in English as on
``17.775``, into Spanish about CV-19 with some more jazz mentioned
with accompaniment; unseems like `Frecuencia al Dia` as sked now on
Monday & Friday. As always slightly off-frequency minus from old(?))
transmitter; also as compared to WWV/H carrier on 15000.000. I don`t
see jazz explicitly on the Spanish program schedule, but there is a
`Jazz Session` hour in English, at 1600 Saturdays (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 17815, Mon Mar 30 at 1504, no signal from WHRI which could
be on here daily now; heard yesterday so more likely Sundays, a
Special Day for such adherents (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9795, March 29 at 2229, S9 tonal language, SE Asian?
Rising intonation at end of phrases like Burmese, but unseems that.
HFCC A-20 as of March 28 has a 9795 gap between 21 and 23: NHK
Japanese before, FEBC Iba multilingual westward afterwards. My guess
would be the latter, Philippines in some minolity language. No clues
in expired B-19 skeds either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report despatched at 2035 UT March 30
