** ARGENTINA [non]. 7780, Sat Nov 16 at 2213, RAE in German, fair via WRMI. On at least Mon Nov 11, Wolfgang Bueschel reported music instead of German during this hour. WRMI skedgrid currently shows System F *program* schedule with RAE German 7 days a week at 22-23 on 7780. And also Mon-Sat at 1600-1700 on 7780, when I have yet to check it, but should not be good for Europe in full-day path even tho aimed that way.
The WRMI *transmitter* schedule atop however, shows #1, 7780 at 22-23 M-F with musical APS Radio! Maybe so, but RAE German fills in only on weekends with old weekday show(s)? A separate RAE schedule block on the WRMI page claims German is only 2200-2300 M-F on 9395! At same time, Sat Nov 16 at 2214 I survey some other WRMIs: 6060 SMTV, 9395 Oldies?, 9955 gospel huxter in English; 15770 TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** BRAZIL. 10000, Nov 16 a 2230, Observatório Nacional with 19:30:10 timecheck, pip every dekasecond, etc. Poor but about equal level now to WWV or WWVH (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CANADA. 328 kHz, Nov 17 at 0722, dash and YTL NDBeacon, 1000 watts from Big Trout Lake, Ontario. Location and background info on this one in my Oct 9 log, also in DXLD 19-41. 332 kHz, QT Thunder Bay mixing with IC Wichita also logged both dates (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CHINA. 12190, Nov 16 at 2330, very poor Chinese vs CODAR, so then hunt for some more CNR1 jammers: 11785 with big clash; and WOOBs at 2335: 11100 JBA, 10920 S4-S5, 10870 S5-S7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CUBA. 15684.5 and 15690.7, Nov 17 at 1452, squealy/squeaky modulation peak spurblobs out of 15700 CRI English relay, also on plus side, computed but not measured as 15709.3 and 15715.5. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** JAPAN [non?]. 9890, Nov 16 at 2231, NHK Japanese at S9+20/30! Latest HFCC, Aoki and EiBi all claim site is Yamata, direct from Japan but aimed away from us at 235 degrees. As does NHK itself: https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/resources/brochure/pdf/rj_frequency.pdf I continue to suspect it`s really a relay from east of here. Could someone do a TDOA on this at 21-23? It`s by far the best signal on band from E Asia, altho China radio war is S8-S9 on 9620v (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** PHILIPPINES. 7460, Nov 16 at 2229, VOA closing in English, S7-S9, from Washington DC, Yankee Doodle Dandy sign-off. It`s end of semihour in Khmer via Tinang (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 16 at 2343, no signal from VOT English to N America, just JBA carrier 5960- from Xinjiang PBS --- so could not have heard repeat of Letterbox circa 2315, as I wished to in last report. Circa 0415 Nov 17, 6125 is on but very poor, unreadable. Fortunately, Alan Holder, Isle of Wight has replied to my inquiry: ``Hi Glenn, I just read your log for November 16 on the Hard-Core-DX site and saw your remarks about my letter being read out on Voice of Turkey on that day. Maybe you heard the repeat on 5960 at 2315 and managed to hear more of the programme, or did they come up with ‘Deutsch’ again? I have been corresponding with TRT on and off since 1970. The current presenter’s name on “Letterbox” is Halibrahim Sarıkaya (no dot on the ‘i’ – it is pronounced Sarekaya. He does a great job in reading out the letters and does not appear to be using a script. He often tells the listeners about happenings in his personal life, which makes for an interesting show. When I write in, I always include some comments and suggestions for future programmes with my reception report. It’s too bad that so many listeners who write to the station are just QSL hunters and also request too many freebies which the station does not have, such as smartphones for instance. Towards the end of this show the presenter gave his opinion on terrorists and mentioned the reason for Turkey’s military involvement in Syria. Turkey is anxious to return the 4 million or so refugees back to Syria, into ‘safe’ areas which will remain under the protection of Turkish forces. A few weeks ago, the presenter was involved in a motorcycle accident, in which he managed to break a few ribs and was covered in bruises. He was trying out his new machine for the first time, travelling in the countryside. A flock of sheep were crossing the road with the farmer, so he waited for them to pass. Unfortunately, when he carried on he came across a stray sheep, hit it at about 20 kmph and came off his bike. The sheep was unharmed. I am wondering what that interference is that you found later on 12032.5. Maybe it was something local. As you know, there are no other broadcasts scheduled near 12035 at this time, which would be subjected to jamming. Reception on 12035 is always excellent in the U.K., with a powerful signal. [maybe Cuban stray --- gh] So far TRT remains committed to short wave, but the transmitters at Emirler are getting on for 30 years old now and what will happen when the time comes for their replacement is anybody’s guess. 73, Alan Holder, Isle of Wight. U.K.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 6501-USB, Nov 16 at 2227, distorted USCG station --- have they no shame? Anyham would not allow her SSB transmission to sound so bad like this! As I tune in, e-mail addresses are being given but I can`t copy; this seems unusual. Then North Atlantic tropical depression info from National Hurricane Center, so the season is still running in mid-November. EiBi shows frequency time-shared among Chesapeake, Kodiak, Guam, Honolulu, not to mention Fuzhou, but very likely this be Chesapeake VA, altho during a 2205-2315 gap between NMN times. Maybe it make DST/ST one-hour shifts unaccounted for here? Oh2, EiBi has not been updated since Oct 22 still in DST season. Oops, I had bookmarked A-19 sked but there is now B-19 as of Nov 6 at http://eibispace.de/dx/freq-b19.txt but still shows the same UT hours for NMN et al. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 13565-CW, Nov 17 at 1449, K6FRC beacon from California is doing well today for a few watts (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2008 monitoring: not confirmed Saturday November 16 at 2057 UT the approx. 2030 airing on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO --- nor did I expect to hear it, but checking for a trace, I do get a JBA carrier in full daytime, vs high local line noise level only in this part of spectrum. Those closer to St Louis, especially north and east of there with even lower solar angles will have a better chance as we transit the shortest days of the year. Currently lacking any SWBC stations for WOR Saturday afternoons and evenings, next chance is repeat on WA0RCR, 1860-AM. I start checking at nominal 0417 UT Sunday, S9+20/30 of ham news; 0446 AMSAT is sending SSTV images; 0507 recheck, now WOR is underway at yacht race item about France, about 6 minutes into so started this week circa 0501; our listeners there, please hang loose. Next: 2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395? to NNW 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 6160v? to WSW 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania to WNW 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 9330.00, Nov 17 at 1941, WBCQ-6 500 kW super-station is finally on again, not WLC Radio but ``Sweet Caroline`` so music test at S9+20 and 2007 recheck, more classic rock peaking S9+30; so aimed thisaway or thataway? First time heard here since afternoon of Oct 30, and maybe first time heard anywhere (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. As I reported to Brice Avery about his first `Encore` broadcast via WWCR-1, 6115, early UT Sunday Nov 17: ``Brice, Perhaps you were monitoring live, but in case not, I must report some discrepancies on WWCR: at 0129 another audio started playing against your music -- an automatic commercial, or start another program. Fortunately it was cut off in a minute. Encore was abruptly cut off at 0158 during the play-out, for frequency change announcement to 3215, and immediately off the 6115 air. So you`d better make them no more than 58 minutes from now on. (Since you never do an announcement at the very end perhaps you expect the final music to be cut off, but I would not encourage that). Looks like Brady has not been helpful enough. In addition to the continuous squeal on this transmitter, which the music overrides much of the time, except in quiet passages, and/or depending on your speaker/playback audio response. I did axually listen on 6115 thruout with its very strong signal, only briefly checking the webcast, and confirmed lack of squeal there. Glenn`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Nov 17 from 0100, I`m running WTWW on a portable with inadequate whip antenna as I am really listening to WWCR 6115 for `Encore` classical music, q.v. So WTWW-2 is JBA at first but just ham talk; by 0118 signal has surged to VG on same rig, why? But still no `Theater Organ in the Ozarx`. Rather a ham ad by Ted, or make that an infomercial, since he goes on and on and on. Still no trace of TOITO this hour unlike last week`s rerun. `Amateur Radio Newsline` ends at 0141, into rock music. 9475, Nov 17 at 1517 check, WTWW-1 is off despite schedule for Sunday mornings; 5830 was on past 0600. All we can conclude is that it is unreliable, unpredictable, irregular, irrelevant (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 3215, Sat Nov 16 at 2332, no signal yet from WWRB. Website info is woefully outdated, one page saying it start at 6 pm EST daily (2300 UT), another at 7:30 pm, no zone given. We know from monitoring it`s *only* active on Saturday and Sunday evenings, whatever the exact times into UT Mondays. The program sked grid for ``Global 1``, then 5050, http://www.wwrb.org/schedule/global_1/combined.pdf still shows WORLD OF RADIO Thursdays at 11:30 pm --- wish it were, but WWRB was the only SW station I had to drop due to unreliability, as of Dec 19, 2014 as in the WOR schedule-change archive at http://www.angelfire.com/ok/worldofradio/ (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 5970, Nov 17 at 0404, dead air from WEWN Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) This report despatched at 2038 UT November 17
