Glenn Hauser logs February 21-22, 2019
Friday, February 22 2019

Hauser
** CUBA. 9624 & 9656, Feb 21 at 2242, diffuse spurblobs obviously out
of 9640 RHC transmitter which is S9+20. Not FM, and no modulation
recognizable on them. I then scan for more further out at 16x kHz
multiples. There is more hash but not on exact spots, such as around
9590, 9540 vs other RHC 9535, 9565? vs jamming, 9520. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5990, Feb 21 at 2315, CRI relay is JBM with scratches,
S9+10/20. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15700, Feb 22 at 1448, CRI Plus relay is S9+40 but suptorted.
Readable if you want to put up with it. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba. But no spurs on 15 or 13 MHz bands today (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9690, Feb 21 at 2156, REE Spanish frequency announcement as
11940 to S America, 9620 to N America ---- what? Did I hear that
right? It`s really 9690, of course. Will have to try again at same
hour. Seems like 9620 may have been REE sometime in past. Currently
not registered anything below 9690, but several imaginary alternates
in the 15 and 17 MHz bands likely to return in A-season (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 3264.897V, Feb 22 at 0715, WBCQ is JBA with talk and music
not // much stronger 9330+ TOMBS. Haven`t checked much for it lately,
as never enough signal to be listenable, but apparently still running
24 hours. V = audibly wavering slightly, as opposed to lower case v
meaning long-term variability (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 13755, Feb 22 at 1447, no DRM from WINB, only heard
yesterday on this frequency, and not on previous 13690 either. Nor at
1636 recheck. What do they twit about this?

``winbâ @SWWINB Feb 21 --- New WINB DRM Schedule - Effective
Immediately - 07-09 UTC 7315 kHz, 09-12 9265 kHz, 12-17 13755 kHz
#shortwave #drm #HFCC #B18``

NOT now, as I said, on 13755. That`s from Hans Johnson in FL, who is
reluctant to sign his real name. Here`s some more news:

``winbâ@SWWINB 4h4 hours ago [from 1612 UT Feb 22 --- why in the world
don`t they just show the real time of the items???] New WINB DRM
program - Unique Radio's @AussieTimG 1100-1200 UTC Wed, Thu, and Fri
on 9265 kHz. Reception reports wanted. #drm #swling #shortwave #dx
#swl``

We had not even heard about this from Tim Gaynor himself, who earlier
had quit WINB completely. But this now on his own website:
https://www.uniqueradio.biz/

``HOT NEWS --- Unique Radio will be transmitting on 9265 kHz DRM 1100
- 1200 UTC via WINB, Wednesday's, Thursday's and Friday's (From
February 27th 2019), aimed at 62 degrees to Eastern North America,
Europe and possibly being able to be received on the North African
Continent and very remotely, in parts of Australia. Reports to John
Wright C/O ARDXC at the following email: dxer1234@gmail.com``

This twitfeed also includes some posts about other DRM stations:
https://twitter.com/@SWWINB

``winb @SWWINB Feb 13 --- #vonigeria *1600 today 15120 kHz in Arabic!
I don't think they have been on in Arabic via shortwave for a few
years, certainly not on DRM. Via SDR in Switzerland``.

And about China DRM. And even some non-DRM, non-WINB items such as
Koode Radio International (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, Friday Feb 22 at 1512, still no signal from KVOH;
however at 1637 there is a JJBBA carrier, maybe KVOH if not an
artifact; QRP or just not propagating? Only other signal on band is a
JBA carrier on 17830, BBC Ascension (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** VENEZUELA [non]. Just received this from Jeff White, RMI at 1635
Feb 22; who has special interest in this, as Mrs. ThaÃs White is from
there, probably family still:

``Venezuela Aid Live concert --- WRMIâs web stream is carrying Richard
Bransonâs Venezuela Aid Live concert all day today February 22 until
approximately 2200 UT. It can be heard on our website
http://www.wrmi.net and on TuneIn (search for WRMI).

Why not turn 9955 at least back on for this too? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Feb 22 at 0701-
0708: No doubt I would hear more earlier in the evening, but
interesting that bedtime check this late is still getting Europe, the
western fringes at least. Sunrise at Madrid today was right at 0700
UT. 612, 621, 774, 837, 846 (Kiritimati?), 855(2), 882, 1008, 1035?,
1098(2), 1125, 1152, 1215, 1305(3), 1413, 1485(2), 1503, 1575, 1584.
On the R75 with E-W longwire so no DFing. (2) means at least two
carriers beating, or even (3) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 1703 UT February 22
