** CANADA. 2749 USB, reply to my Halifax marine weather in French log:
``2749 kHz USB starting 0140 UT - Halifax Coast Guard Radio Station
VCS in English. The station signed out 0155 UT and then a broadcast in
French immediately followed at 0155 UT. Off by 0213 UTC. On again at
0240 UT. The English broadcast ended at 0253 UT with French
immediately following. The signal slowly weakened during this
broadcast and by the end at 0306 UT, it was down to S7.8 or so. The
Canadian Coast Guard site schedule shows English followed by French
for the 0140 and 0240 broadcasts -

Here's an interesting site on the station:

vertical and thirty 25 ft radials`` on Nov 26 --- tnx, Doug!
2749 USB, Nov 26 at 0744 UT, YL with marine weather, English? This
time at 0745, 2598 USB is also on and slightly stronger S7 = HNL, YL
with marine weather, English. Too weak to get on two receivers to
discern if //, but probably not. From CCG website above lots of info,
except powers; do all these stay at same UT or make DST shifts?:
First 2749 bc of day is at 0740 from VCS Sydney NS via Port Caledonia,
English followed by French at unspecified and probable variable time.
Wikipedia: ``Port Caledonia is a small community in the Cape Breton
Regional Municipality on the Donkin Highway, between the town of Glace
Bay and the village of Donkin. It currently has one gas station /
convenience store as well as a public beach, known as the Big Glace
Bay Beach. The community received media attention in 2011 when
resident Shirley Sampson appeared on the reality television program
Canada's Worst Driver 7, ultimately being named the worst driver in
Canada.``
First 2598 bc of day is at 0737 from Placentia NF MCTS/VCP via St.
Lawrence, English only. This St. Lawrence town is at the southern tip
of the Burin peninsula, not far from St. Pierre & Miquelon (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** JAMAICA. 28580 USB, Nov 25 at 2310, 6Y5CB, Jay in Montego Bay
making quick contacts. Also noted Mexico, Belize, Uruguay sigs on 10m.
QRZ.com: ``Causland J "Scorpio" Burnett,
Flower Hill, Salt Spring PO, Montego Bay, Jamaica`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** OKLAHOMA [non]. 341 MCW kHz, Nov 26 at 0750 UT, JBA ND beacons
mixing, inseparable, likely the pair I used to get even when EI was
active: DNI Denison TX 25 watts, and OIN Oberlin KS 25 watts. RNA list
says this about EI EnId: ``!! To be decommissioned 26Dec24 per
OKLAHOMA NFDD 211 - 3 10/31/2024`` and last heard: 2024-09-05. I had
also first noted it missing on Sept 6 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Nov 25 at 2259, REE S9+30/40 VG direct, sufficient
on 12030, JBA on 17715 and JBA carrier on 17755. At least, all four
transmitters manage to be on air merging into token English at 2300.
Preview topic to be about role-playing video game designer and a
literature festival, 2301 into news.
17715, Tue Nov 26 at 1958 direct, 2038 into UTwente, and 2040 into
Maryland SDR, today`s missing REE frequency, but audible on 9690 &
12030, and JBA carrier on 17755. So now it`s the SAm transmitter off
rather than 17755 or 9690 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 5960.003, Nov 25 at 2258, VOT not off the air, IS & ID in
English, S9+10/20 direct but insufficient vs local noise level. 2331
into UTwente when measured, S9+45 with music and more music. 2352
headlines by Efsun. 2353 s/off as if 1330 on 13635: something`s always
awry at Ankara, bit of IS to off before 2355* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 26 at 2300 and later chex, no signal from VOT
English for N America; 9610 algo JBA. Into UTwente at 2331, Chinese
only on 5960, non-English JBA on 9610, presumably Mongolian from
China. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** U S A. 344 MCW kHz, Nov 26 at 0751 UT, ND beacon is JBA, seems to
be OL - but nonesuch listed: likely JL, i.e. I missed the initial dot,
`Lunns` Joplin MO per RNA list last logged 2024-11-12, power 0,
apparently meaning unknown. I`ve heard it before (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2270 monitoring: confirmed Monday
November 25 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002+, S8/9+5 into
UTwente.
Also confirmed UT Tuesday November 26 at 0353 the 0330 on WRMI 7780,
S8/S9 direct.
Barely confirmed Tueday November 26 at 1415 and 1520 the 1400 & 1500
on WRMI 9955, JBA direct as usual this time of day, but sounds like
me. I`m barely awake, so no checking remotes or webcast.
Also confirmed Tuesday November 26 at 2100 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1322.997+, S9 into UTwente. Next:
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975.

** U S A. 880, reply to my KJOZ log: ``Glenn, you are correct about
Radio Visión Latina on KJOZ 880, which is the originating station for
K291CE 106.1 in Houston. KJOZ has been leased by numerous programmers
in recent years, so sometimes hard to keep track of changes. La Calle
is a different format currently heard on several translators and LPFMs
on 102.5 in the greater Houston metro area. Stephen Luce, Houston,
Texas`` --- tnx, Stephen! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1600, Nov 26 at 0443 UT, ``BIN 103.7`` non-ID at tuneby. I
would expect usual dominant KATZ St Louis. NRC AM Log shows 6/3.5 kW
station is UC:GOS but also with BIN and translator on 93.3. Website
https://hallelujah1600.iheart.com/ has nothing about BIN or even
callsign--who needs them? KATZ. The only 1600/103.7 matchup in WTFDA
FMDB is W279BY of WKZK 1600, Augusta-Richmond County, GA, ``The Spirit
103.7 FM & 1600 AM`` AND same match in NRC AM Log as WKZK North
Augusta SC, 4000/27 watts also UC:GOS format, but no mention of BIN.
The only other BIN on 1600 is 25/5 kW WWRL NYC which is apparently
fulltime BIN with UC:NWS/TLK, but I would hardly expect it way out
here, https://newyork.binnews.com/ and no FM.
Looking further into WKZK: https://wkzk.net/ shows slogan is The
Spirit, and nothing about BIN - might take news only from it, but
would not expect that to combine with 103.7 in a non-ID. Now what?
Guess what, searching on BIN 103.7 leads right to St. Louis! About the
same generic website as WWRL: but nothing about 1600! Back to WTFDA:
there is no 103.7 in MO near St Louis: I bet it`s across the bridge in
IL: YES, here we go: ``W279AQ relay of: KLOU 103.3 HD2 103.7 MASCOUTAH
IL USA 0.25 0.25 0.0 0.0 38-34-28 90-19-32 D3FF NEWS BIN 151819`` ---
Mascoutah is just SE of St Louis, about twice as far out at
Belleville, rather too far for an FM translator into STL, but not for
1600 AM. O, CoL may be Mascoutah, why? but coverage area shows site is
on SW edge of St Louis in MO, with poor little Mascoutah barely within
fringe contour:
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=W279AQ&service=FX
How convoluted! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VENEZUELA. 4940, Nov 26 at 0744, JBA carrier indicating 4940
station back on air after missing a few days. Was previously reported
the night before:
``Estación 4940 on at 0735 UTC Nov. 25 --- There were some reports
this station was missing in recent days, but it's on tonight. During a
band scan here near Seattle, I immediately heard music on 4940 kHz --
first a woman singing nearly operatically at times in a Latin-American
song at 0735 UTC, a male announcer talking in Spanish for a moment or
two, then (a bit surprisingly) a male-sung contemporary Christian song
called "I Will Rise" at 0741 UTC. What I was receiving matched with
audio heard loudly via the SDR in Bonaire. Reception was generally
poor to barely fair. Eric Fetters-Walp, Lake Stevens, Washington``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Nov 26 at
0432-0440 UT, jiggled a loose connexion on the Wellbrook loop cable,
now this is more like it: 711, 774, 819, 855, 1044, 1098, 1107, 1125,
1134?, 1314, 1368? Likely mainly Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1141, Nov 25 at 0442 UT, carrier het to 1140s. Long
assumed to be Cuban, but doubts were cast in NRC IDXD by ed. Bruce
Conti; however, we can`t be positive a blackout in Cuba was 100%:
``1141 unID NOV 1 0800 - Loud het against 1140 WRVA. By 1000 UTC,
barely above the noise floor but still there. NOV 3 0000 - Het against
1140 WRVA and CBI. Roy Barstow via RealDX reported receiving the 1141
kHz signal during the electricity blackout in Cuba, so this widely
received offset frequency signal apparently isn't Cuba as had been
previously presumed. Not from 1140 WQBA which is found on frequency
via the Boca Raton KiwiSDR. Not 1140 WVVO Viva FM on frequency via the
Melbourne SDR. 1140 ZP22 Central Radio strong and on frequency via
Paraguay SDR. Nothing on 1140 or 1141 daytime via Bonaire SDR, only a
strong YVRL R. Ideal signal on 1130 kHz. Ecuador SDR not connecting.
Colombia, Peru, and Puerto Rico would be logical suspects if not Cuba.
[Conti-NH]`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
