These are not useless, as they can be a characteristic of a transmitter to be off-frequency, assisting in identifying it. BUT one must be careful to compare the SDR readout to e.g. WWV for accurate calibration. Even so the final digit may best be considered approximate. After a while, one has a feel for which ones are not likely to be accurate. Glenn Hauser

I am interested in the now prevalent quoting of received frequencies to 3 decimal places, which is rather useless. The logger is assuming their cheap SDR is more accurate than the output of a very expensive commercial transmitter. Just because it is possible with SDR software does not make it of merit.
