We continue with near-blackout SW conditions: what can we expect, with
an A-index of 272, blackouts reaching R3 level, per WWV. Generally on
May 12, only the closest USignals are good, WWCR, Grimesland, on lower
daytime bands, otherwise mostly JBA carriers at best (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
** ALGERIA. Re 17600 & 15160: ``The English segment (at least, the one
that starts anywhere between 1800 and 1845) is called "Zoom in
Africa". e.g.:

Alan Roe, Teddington, UK`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. Re my 1510 log: ``R. Monumental 1510, Neil Kazaross May 11
#41226 Oops now I read that XEQI is inactive so I don't know what my
early SS was but it wasn't needed Ecuador.`` - IRCA iog. Read about,
where? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 4095, May 12 at 0624, sweeps upward JBA, log for the record,
DW, the Desert Whooper, despite noisy conditions now, last logged Dec
13 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2242 monitoring: Re UT Sat 0130 on
WRMI 5850: Jeff White confirms WOR has been replaced by something else
- yet still on the System F sked as of May 12.
NOT confirmed UT Sunday May 12 at 0000 on WRMI 9955, since it is OFF

Confirmed UT Sunday May 12 at 0306 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+10/20

into so started early about 0259. Next:

** U S A. Major geomag storm affecting WWCR: 4840, May 11 at 0702,
S9+20 but with flutter. Likewise 5890, 5935, 5980 leapfrog mixture
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Re: "1330, May 11 at 0242, political ad in gringo-Spanish
for elexion later in May, presumably TX primary runoff May 28, but not
caught name; and
into C&W music. Of the 5 TX, two are C&W: KSWA Graham, 500/51 watts;
and KCKM Monahans, 12/1 kW. Graham is S of Wichita Falls, WNW of Fort
Worth. Monahans in SW TX near NM SE corner."
``Hi Glenn. KSWA (and co-owned KROO-1430) reportedly had their
licenses canceled sometime around August 2023. 73 Tim Hall`` - tnx, so
by elimination that leaves only KCKM, not an unusual catch here anyway
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. 1570, May 12 at 0628, Bott Network promos, i.e.
surely KBCV, Hollister (Springfield) MO, U4 5/3 kW - tho NRC AM Log
shows one other Bott on 1570, KLEX, Lexington (Richmond) MO, U1 250/40
watts. No echo here but could be in central MO between them. Network
station list puts KBCV in Branson; plus lots more mostly FM:
https://bottradionetwork.com/stations/
HQ are in Overland Park (Kansas City) KS. KBCV is my closest 1570 at
night, since KTUZ Catoosa OK is daytimer; and KTAT Frederick OK is
silent, HPRN bankruptcy, but 250/6 watts and think I never heard it. I
still think 1570 should belong to XERF, source of Spanish often heard
but hardly dominant for 100/100 kW. Mexico even has CPs for three
other lowpowers on 1570 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
