** ALGERIA. 17600, Apr 27 at 0641, JBA music into UTwente, so can`t
confirm any English this time. Propagation depressed, no signal direct
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA [non]. See CUBA; EAST TURKISTAN
** CUBA. 6000, April 27 at 2335, something strange here: long
narration in English but only an occasional word understood, with
continuous Chinese music background; like storytelling. Bigsig has to
be Cuban relay, not direct from China; no CRI English relays are
supposedly sked at this time nor frequency. This is Sat, but on a
weekday, 6000 would be running the alt RHC service, `Mesa Redonda`, //
11950, which is not on now. At first during AC power outage due to
storms, I`m monitoring on the D808 or DX398 portables. AC back on at
*2345, then on the NRD at S9/+10 including the HSNL. 2358 ``until next
time, goodbye``; 2359 promos in Chinese/English. 0000 no timesignal or
ID but into song, strange ToH behaviour for CNR domestic or CRI
external.
By 0044 next check into Georgia SDR, 6000 is mixing Spanish and RHC
English at equal audio levels. Spanish mentions China, so that may be
from CRI, S9+40/50. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. None of
this is accounted for in latest EiBi or Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** EAST TURKISTAN. 13740, Apr 27 at 2326, music and Spanish with
flutter into portables during power outage. CRI Spanish sked 2300-0057
& 0100-0300 via Kashi-Saiba per Aoki. 13740 used to be a Cuban
frequency; see also (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 27184.74 AM approx., Apr 27 at 0100, Enid CB pirate relay
of K288FX, // 105.5 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. Tornado outbreak all day April 27, disrupted our
monitoring. Several came close to Enid but no direct hits. Two power
outages of about an hour each were also problems, 2030-2126,
2138-2245! OKC TV channels, ``4, 5, 9`` normally go to wall-to-wall
coverage with choppers and storm spotters deployed. 4 was slowest to
dispense with a stupid ballgame. We mostly followed KOCO 5. Except
during power and thus cable outages, the only station we can get on
indoor UHF loop is KFOR 4, RF 27. We did get backup AC power supplies
going to run the TV. In the past, a number of commercial AM & FM
stations in OKC would plug into live tornado coverage by one of the TV
stations. This time I could not find a single one doing so on FM; nor
AM but weaker signals blocked by high storm noise levels. Some would
break into regular programming only for NWS warnings. The additional
noise level on some of those daisy-chain relays is incredible.
Instead, KFOR coverage was being relayed by three otherwise gospel
huxters audible here, on 88.5, 89.7 and 90.5: 88.5 KZTH Piedmont is
relay of 89.7 KJTH, ``The House``, Ponca City; and 90.5 KGVV Goltry,
``My Praise/The House of Praise``. No locally-originated coverage was
to be heard on any Enid market AM or FM commercial station (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785, April 27 at 2302 and still 2319, during AC power
outage due to storms, I get enough signal into portables with inside
longwire to hear some German, i.e. another erroneous Emirler TRT
overrun past the 2200 English hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2240 monitoring: confirmed UT

Unique Radio, Australia, as of Apr 27 ``currently off air except for
Jen live`` -- and Tim Gaynor does mean off, not even webcasting as the

One of Jen`s shows, `Calling All Radio Nutzzz` has been appearing
irregularly, but publicized in major DX lists a day or two before.
