** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 780, June 17 at 0618, rock music making fast
SAH and heavy QRM to poor WBBM. I bet it`s KSPI Stillwater, cheating
250 watt ``daytimer`` - yes, at next break ID as ``Pete 94.3``, its
current handle for the primary brand of FM translator K232FI, deriving
from Pistol Pete, the still politically incorrect OSU mascot; tho
KSPIs have no real connexion with OSU beyond proximity. Fortunately
OSU provides half of an excellent public radio station, 91.7, KOSU;
the night hours being turned over to ``The Spy`` [Spi?] of rock music,
etc., alluding to the original KSPI. In June and still July, 780 is
supposed to be OFF THE AIR between 0145 & 1115 UT; the fast SAH?
MWoffset has no entry for KSPI dating back a sesquidecade for some
others. K232FI is sometimes barely audible here vs a Kansan, enough to
obstaclize genuine weak sporadic E DX (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. Speaking of StillWater, as of June 17, last few days and
nights I have been unable to reconfirm ND beacon SW 255 kHz still on
air; but summer storm and neighborhood noise levels have been
excessive (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, KUCO-FM, Sat June 17 at 1700, Lane Whitsell
introduces Met Opera with The Flying Dutchman -- over to the net which
is really introducing `Champion` by Blanchard in its Met première!
story of a gay boxer? Bodes ill for further wrong voicetracking today.
I`m certainly not listening to that, a modern opera about the most
detestable, sadomasochistic ``sport`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785, June 17 at 2201 and still 2223, zero signal from VOT
English to us, into UTwente. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

English; had been off at earlier 0109 check after nominal *0100. So
not gone forever; but off again by 0558 check; closing circa 0400? or
sporadic? something`s messed up at Metairie, or SNAFU at Fort Worth?
