** ANTARCTICA [and non]. ``Hi Glenn, Just a quick word about the
compilation of logs for LRA36 on my DX Guides site. DX Guides is a
personal site that I maintain as a hobby, it has nothing to do with
the British DX Club.
http://www.dxguides.info/
As to the content, it’s all my own work from start to finish, mistakes
and all (which can be corrected once I am aware of them). However,
some folks take an interest and are a great help with news and updates
direct.
Yes, the LRA36 reports will continue into 2023 and beyond, as will
those for Radio Vanuatu, which are a little way behind at the moment.
I will add others next year.
Your logs and weekly reports are very useful indeed, as are the posts
of many others to the WOR iog. Thanks. Best regards, Tony Rogers``

** CANADA. 362 MCW kHz, Dec 2 at 0736, dash and SB, 500-watt ND beacon
at Greater Sudbury, Ontario, JBA vs HNL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11670, Dec 2 at 0723, S9+10/20 of dead air, SSOB by far on
25m, everything else JBA carriers with degraded propagation. Far
overtime pulse jamming JBA on 11860. Only Cuban SWBC still on, none on
4, 5, 6, 9 or 10 MHz. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
** NIGERIA. 7255-, Dec 2 at 0727, S9+10 open carrier from VON. As
others note it can be quite sporadic starting at 0600, or not (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 88.7, more about the KJIL translator in Enid which came
on air a few days ago. It is mentioned in the WTFDA FM db, not under
88.7 but 88.3!
``K202BY relay of: KJIL 99.1 88.3 ENID OK CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN /
RELIGIOUS TEACHING YOU'RE WITH FAMILY 0.0 0.25 0.0 80.0 36-23-57
97-52-48 CP for K204GU 88.7 expires 6/1/21``
It may have ``expired`` a sesquiyear ago, but without embargo it just
came on the air -- and, 88.3 is now off, so in effect it`s a QSY. Not
clear why they would want to move as it seems there is more QRM on
88.7. But that frees 88.3 for some DX, and rids 88.1 KWOU Woodward of
ACI somewhat improving KGOU relay accessibility into Enid; but there
is still CCI from Oasis in Moore.
Note that 88.3 was 250 watts vertical only. FCC Query for 88.3 as a CP
for 88.7 shows 140 watts horizontal only, and different GC: 36-24-29
97-59-56, i.e. further north and west. I get/got them both no matter
what the antenna polarity.
Dec 2 at 2259 UT, I`m trying the DX398 with telescopic only, to find
dead air on 88.7 from ``KJIL``; and without really trying at a certain
angle, there is classical music! I bet it`s KWTU Tulsa - yes, soon ID
as KJIL resumes mod. Of all the 88.7s around here, KWTU would be most
desirable, but it`s only 5/5 kW ERP, designed for Tulsa area only as
an offshoot of KWGS 89.5, both Public Radio Tulsa. Checking APRS map
an hour later, there has been some tropo boost in the Enid/Tulsa/OKC
triangle.
Looking at all the Enid listings in WTFDA FM db: still has K226BR on
93.1 as relay of KIMY 93.9 tho marked as ``silent`` -- has been gone
for years but may still be licensed? KQOB 96.9 still shown as relay
of KZLS 1640, tho that ceased months ago as I reported at the time.
KQOB went from rock music to far-right talk // 1640, but then 1640
flipped to sports talk // 1390 KCRC, leaving only Eagle 96.9 with the
far-right talk (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ROMANIA. 756 kHz, Dec 2 at 2135, since I have Noale, Italy SDR up
to check WORLD OF RADIO on 1323, 918, 207 kHz, I then tune it here for
the new HQ transmitter from SE Algeria, unknown power. Instead, strong
signal of a boogie-woogie song in English! R. România Actualitatsi is
listed, so I pick a // at random to check, and there she is too, much
weaker on 945. WRTH shows 756 as 400 kW from Lugoj (Boldur) = but not
at night; 945 as 15 kW from Miercurea Ciuc (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 9690, Dec 2 at 2300, since it`s Friday, time for another
token English from REE. First on the DX398 with a little help from
reelout, it`s hardly solid here with fading; a bit better off the back
to ME on 12030, and 11940 to SAm also audible. Missed the preview, but
after news at 2308 first feature is about a stupid ballgame player.
2321 recheck on the main rx, quite different reception, nothing on
12030 or 11940. 9690 has Justin interviewing an author, outro as Alan
(sp?) W. Moore, of ``Art Worker`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 2 at 2321, VOT is S9+10/20 of undermodulated
music; with deep fading at 2350 multi-lingual ID filler reel; 2352
sign/off with jumbled full English sked; 2354 IS; 2356.6 starts IDing
in German but chopped off as the second one starts at 2357* (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 6993 AM, Dec 2 at 2323, JBA carrier, time for another
occasional presumed log as explained in DXLD 16-16, of WH2XWF, an
experimental 164-watt transmitter with several locations in Florida,
to study ionospheric disturbances (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2166 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees.
Dear Glenn: Confirming World of Radio #2166, WRMI:
5850, 0830, 0840, 0855 (55433-4), 0859, November 25 [Fri]
5950, 0130, 0144, 0158 (55434), 0159, November 28 [Mon]
9395, 0132 rough going, November 29 [Tue]
9955, check, noise, 2330, 2344, 2353 (45433), 2359, November 29 [Tue]
5850, frequency empty, 1030, November 30 [Wed]
9395, confirmed barely heard jingle, 0130, December 1 UTC 2022 [Thu]
(Lemke, Richard -AB)``
WORLD OF RADIO 2167 monitoring: confirmed first SWBC, the 0330 UT
Friday December 2 on WRMI 7780, tuned in just in time at 0358, S9
direct vs S7 HNL here.
Also confirmed Friday December 2 at 0830 on WRMIs: 5010, S9+10 direct;
5850 S9+10/20. 7780 is JBA but I think I hear a bit of music after the
first minute so can`t be WOR, unlike last week when on all three. No,
I did not want to be awake at this hour but found myself such, so
might as well check me.
Later learnt that WRMI has just started relay of Voice of Indonesia!
at 08-09 on 7780. Unfortunately this remains WRMI`s worst frequency
here, off the side of southwestward beam. Nor hardly helpful in the
middle of our night for North Americans. From WRMI on FB Dec 1:
``WRMI Begins Relays of the Voice of Indonesia --- WRMI has begun
testing relays of the daily English-language program of the Voice of
Indonesia. The one-hour program can currently be heard at 0800-0900
UTC on 7780 kHz. While beamed to Central America, this frequency can
often be heard well in North America, Hawaii and Oceania at that hour.
Reception reports from listeners would be most welcome. It is possible
that these relays could be expanded in the future to additional times
and frequencies, as well as additional languages including Spanish.``
WOR 2167 not confirmed Friday December 2 at 1530 on WRMI 9955, not
checked until 1555 direct to find it`s OFF the air, while the other
31s, 9395 & 9455 remain loud and clear. And it`s too late to get the
computer running for check of WRMI`s only frequency meriting webcast,
but probably.
Confirmed Friday December 2 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, into
nearby Noale SDR, S9+5/10 but with ripple SAH from another transmitter
altho not much modulated QRM. On 918 kHz there are 2 or 3 weak signals
but cannot recognize me as one of them; also 1 kHz het from 917
Nigeria. Next:

** U S A. 9330-, Dec 2 at 0725, JBA carrier, presumed WBCQ, either QRP
or propped out; while southerly signals WRMI on 9395, 9455 and 9955
are good; and if Cuban Spy, would also have been much stronger, cf
11670 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Ex-5085 et al., another WTWW update from George McClintock,
my scribbled notes paraphrased from phone conversation early UT
December 2:
#2 transmitter is now ready to run at 100 kW; #1 maybe 85 kW. You
can`t really tell the difference by listening until maybe 50 kW or
less. The power modules on #2 were burnt to hell. There was a massive
cooling water leak, spilt all over the floor. They had many gallon
jugs of distilled water on hand to compensate. #3 antenna is severely
damaged, for the Harris 100 transmitter, could run low power only. The
antenna matching device for #1 had been disconnected, and the cover
missing, but it seems to work. Everything is wrong. Various other
missing parts had been hidden, now found. US SW stations are supposed
to pay a frequency coordination fee each season, but this was not done
by WTWW, maybe about $ 200K behind, with 25% penalties building up!
This does not go directly to FCC but to USG general fund. Any
purchaser would have to clear that debt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
