** OKLAHOMA. K17JN-D, Enid`s only local TV signal, is OFF, July 8 at
1515 UT. Translator has been 3ABN and various related gospel-huxter
subchannels, 2 or 3 of them audio only, not shown at rabbitears.info,
including Radio 74 which is also on 89.3 from KIEL, Loyal OK. Lately
17 had been weak and somewhat not decoding, but not sure if them or my
antenna at fault. Now we know. I am not eager to have them back, and
shamefully, Enid deserves some local relays of secular OKC stations,
notably OETA (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

For these noncommercial services, voluntary financial support is much
appreciated; thanks this week to Arnold Heiles, Heinerscheid,
Luxembourg: ``Dear Mr. Hauser, Thank you for all the work you are
doing for international DXing community. I wish to support you by
sending you some Euros. I reached the age of 57 and I am now in
pre-retirement. I worked 38 years for US tire producer Goodyear.
Having now much more time for my hobbies, I want to spend more time
with my communication receivers. I wish you can continue World of
Radio as long as possible. I listen always Saturdays via Satellite
Astra 13,2 E on World Radio Network. Greetings from Luxembourg, yours
sincerely, Arnold Heiles, Heinerscheid``

WORLD OF RADIO 2146 monitoring: confirmed first broadcasts UT Friday
July 8 at 0130 on WRMIs: 7730 via Maryland SDR and S9+10/20 direct;
and 5850, S9+10/20 direct at 0145 but with storm crashes, somewhat
undermodulated and suppressed. Clearer on 7730. As usual on System F,
my last few words are overridden by Bishop Bob Biermann`s canned ID
claiming to be on 9395! Also before 0159 I compared 5850 modulation to
5800 & 5950 which were definitely louder and clearer.

Also confirmed UT Friday July 8 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, JBA but slightly
better into Missouri than Maryland SDR, both vs HSNL = high storm
noise level. Unfortunately there are no Kiwis in Central America where
7780 is now aimed!

Also confirmed Friday July 8 at 1430 on WRMI 9955, S9/S3 direct with
no jamming audible. Next: 1815 on IRRS as above (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. Another log I overlooked in the sporadic E FM DX session
UT July 3 from the Arizona/Sonora area:

92.1 at 0132, Mexican music, likely:
KCMT 92.1 GREEN VALLEY AZ Spanish REGIONAL MEXICAN LA CALIENTE 92.1 Y

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Huge sporadic E FM DX opening on July 4: on caradio parked
in hottening garage, vertical fender antenna only, no RDS, no
even-frequency side-tuning, no internet access until later research.
No recordings. All logged in real time by my own ears on own receiver,
no remotes. All times UT in chronological order. PTA = probable target
area. Distances are approx., city-of-license to Enid
distancefromto.net, not site to site. I am not counting stations,
states or anything and not in competition. Some logs are presumed, and
any correxions or help with IDing are very welcome. Other standard
provisos with my previous reports apply.

93.1 at 1634. CCI with Kansas, adstring, Goettl.com, Home Depot,

strange name GOETTL ought to lead somewhere: yes, about air

Vegas NV, Phoenix & Tucson AZ, Austin & San Antonio TX, Simi Valley &
Southern California = Corona HQ. No Goettls in the TX and AZ cities,
but some nearby in CA, NW of Bakersfield:

KXTA-FM 99.1 GOODING ID Spanish REGIONAL MEXICAN LA PERRONA 99.1 64.0
kW 70.0 m. 1610 km = 1001 mi. Gooding is near Twin Falls. Strange name
for a station, literally ``big bitch``? Google ``translates`` to same
word in English, an anomaly already dealt with at Quora:

``Google translate says the word "Perrona" in Spanish means "Perrona"
in English. Is that a correct translation or not?``

Luis Carlos Olmeda · Follow Knows Spanish4y replies:
``Perrona in Spanish is an adjective that’s mostly used in the
northern part of México, to refer that something is cool in a more
unpolite way, like “f-ing awesome” (but not exactly, as “f-ing
awesome” would be considered rude, and when it comes to be polite, the
word “perron/perrona” -perrona would be the femenine case- doesn’t
break the rule).

Now, to go more into specifics, the origin of that word has the prefix
“perr-” which comes from the word “perro”, whose literal translation
would be “dog”. Now, if you ask me why does it have that prefix, I
wouldn’t know, and to be honest I don’t think that any Mexican could
give you an explanation about it.

Hope this answers your question, as it’s the first one that I get to
answer in Quora, and my English is far from being perfect. Saludos
desde México!``

Heather Muñoz· 2y replies: ``Reminds me of English slang: bitchin’
from the 1960s, meaning awesome, excellent, very cool``

92.1 at 1807, CCI talk and music; and the talker is mono: I don`t
always pay attention to the $ tereo icon but definitely not on here.
That doesn`t help much to ID as the DB does not show which but of
course it makes sense for talkers to turn off stereo for better
coverage. A lot of stations leave $ on even when the programming is
really mono. At 1816 M&W sports talk about the Royals --- oops, no

There are some split-second dropouts in the music. 1830, ``America,

Still going at 1907 but after 2.5 hours of intensive DXing in the
uncomfortable car seat getting hotter, I break for R&R and a late
lunch. Resuming at 1946-1956, no DX. I wonder if the opening moved on
to Saskatchewan?

BTW, the mass shooting in Highland Park IL had just happened, but in
all my tuning of DX and past local FM stations I never heard a word
about it, while it was wall-to-wall on the cable TV news networx.
Commercial radio is a totally different world!

As I finally complete this compilation July 8 at 1725 UT there is a
