** AUSTRAL ISLANDS. 28485 USB, April 24 at 2210, TX5N making very
quick contacts ``plus 5/10``. Where? Really part of French Polynesia,
but hams may have declared them a separate radio country? QRZ.com:

Raivavae - Austral Islands DX-pedition
TX5N.net
Several members of the Perseverance DX Group (PDXG) will activate
Raivavae Island (Austral Islands), French Polynesia, April 15 – April
29, 2022 for approximately 12 operating days. The plan is to have
radios on the air continually, as propagation allows.
The call sign TX5N was issued for this project. Team members include:
Steve W1SRD, Doris K0BEE, Rob N7QT, Melanie N7BX, Heye DJ9RR, Walt
N6XG and Gene K5GS. The team is planning to operate 160m – 10m
(including 60m), CW, SSB and Digital.
The team will meet in Papeete, Tahiti on April 12th and fly to
Raivavae on April 16th, returning to Papeete on April 28th. The team
expects to make between 60,000 – 80,000 QSOs
The operating location, Tama Raivavae Resort, will provide a small
bungalow for each team member and a separate building for radio
operations. Tama Raivavae has hosted many past DX-peditions.
Equipment will include Elecraft K3 transceivers with 500 and 1.5K watt
linear amplifiers. Antennas will be verticals and a hexbeam, antenna
placement will be on the beach. We expect to have some internet
availability for daily log uploads to M0URX.com
This project is self-funded by the team. We welcome donations via the
Donate button or with OQRS to offset equipment shipping expenses.
We are hoping that Covid doesn’t interfere with the project.``
Strangely, now hardly any activity on the official 27 MHz CB, but a
few Latin freebanders circa 28.4-28.5 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA [and non]. 13755, April 25 at 1454, two Chinese signals
mixing with fast SAH. EiBi shows at 1400-1500 it`s CNR1 jamming vs VOA
Mandarin via SAIPAN, both on days 135 only and this is Day 1 = Monday.
But contrarily, Aoki shows on days 246, and this is Day 2 = Monday,
RFA Cantonese via unknown site; which is it? They agree that after
1500 daily, 13755 should be only CRI Mandarin via Kashgar, East
Turkistan, standard denunciation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. 21530, April 25 at 2212, JBA carrier unseems birdie, while
there is no 21525 overrun today from WRMI. A similar fadey JBA carrier
on 18900 --- both of which match up in Aoki/NDXC as CNR1 jammer
frequencies vs Sound of Hope, Taiwan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** COSTA RICA. 28510 USB, April 24 at 2211, TI5VMJ calling CQ, QRZ.
And random 10m bandscan 24 hours later, April 25 at 2207, hits him
again with CQ on 28490 USB, and contact. Only a few other phone
signals on band, 28460 algo and a Spanish pileup on 28315. QRZ.com:

** JAPAN. 11655, April 25 at 1455, NHK IS, S6 with flutter. Bengali is
about to start direct from Yamata (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, April 25 at 1459, I`m standing by for V of
Martyrs Korea to start: *1500 cuts on with open carrier, 1500.5 cuts
on modulation in progress, usual Christian discussion in English,
mainly speaking the same one unID preacher; still no Dhivehi? Did not
listen to entire broadcast. S7/S9 with flutter direct. No ID or
introduxion of any sort. Time to check the references about this.
Still *nothing* in latest HFCC of April 24, nor ITU monitoring but
which was about the first quarter.
EiBi classifies as clandestine, i.e. because Sunni Islam is the only
state religion in target? but /XUU means unidentified site:
``11620 1500-1530 CLA Voice of Martyrs E MLD /XUU``
Aoki NDXC puts it in AUStralia, i.e. RBA Kununurra; unless Shepparton
be revived from the dead for this, but do they *know* it`s KNX or just
going along with some of our hypothesizing?:
``11620 1500-1530 AUS Voice of Martyrs Eng 1-7``

** RUSSIA [and non]. Following news of explosions in Bryansk, as the
war is hitting withing Russia, I check one of the few KiwiSDRs in
western Russia, the ``Crazy`` one of R3YBN, April 25 at 2242. Yes, it
is still active but not getting much on SW. The 5.8-7.2+ MHz area
appears to be blocked on it, especially the contentious 40m hamband,
but some broadcaster on 7300; and MW 1386 is getting Ukrainske Radio
via LITHUANIA just fine, S9, ID at 2300. Bryansk is SW of Moskva,
about equidistant close to the real borders of Ukraine, and of
Belarus` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 21310 USB, April 24 at 2222, EH4WRD calling CQ, QRZ.
``EH4WRD Spain flag Spain

QRZ.com leads to this:
https://www.radioclubhenares.org/eh4wrd/
Evidently I caught it toward the very end of its World Radio Day span
from April 8 ending April 24. Op voice sounds like a YL, but no info
found about handles or home calls. She`s laughing occasionally as if
with someone in the shack rather than on air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 9830, April 25 at 2200, no signal from VOT English direct,
just some RTTY; but at 2238 into UTwente, nice Tuerkisch musik at
S9+30/45 on 9830.021. Unclear whether it oncame late or simply not
propagating at all this far into nominal target (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, re UR1 via WRMI, UT Sunday April 24 at 0500:
``Glenn: There WAS an English segment. It started at about 39 minutes
after the hour in my recorded UR1 Internet stream. So quite a bit
later in the hour than usual. And, yes, there was some nice religious
music. Could even have been a service as you suggest. -- Richard
Langley`` --- and also this:
``I had a discussion about this with Walt Salmaniw a few weeks back. I
had figured out that the Ukrainian word for dot (transliterated) is
"krapka" and thought the announcement might be an e-mail address. Walt
said it's a website: "It’s encouraging civilians to sign up (everyone
can contribute to defeating russia). Проти.??.go.ua. Proty means
against. I couldn’t make out the second word. Indeed, krapka means
period or dot." It would be nice if we could get the full URL to check
it out. -- Richard Langley``
And I missed checking on UT Monday April 25. UT Tuesday April 26 at
0001 I am listening to 1386 via Bryansk SDR - see RUSSIA. And there is
the English segment with the YL announcer until 0008, recommended!!
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2135 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
April 24 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, steady S9+7 into
nearby Noale KiwiSDR; no signals this time on 918 or 207 kHz.
Also confirmed Sunday April 24 at 2230 on WRMI 5950, S8/S9 into
Maryland SDR, but with considerable ACI from 5945 rock music, which is
Romania in English. Into Knoxville SDR less of that and S9+20. This
time continues instead of a replacement show on program sked. If
anyone run across any other unsked time on WRMI, do let me know.
Also confirmed UT Monday April 25 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+10 into
Knoxville, S9+10 i.e. less fading into Maryland, both of which are
considerably off the southwesterly beam. BTW, just before, concluding
at 0029 was Antena DX from Chispa Estéreo in Panamá; which is supposed
to repeat at 0300 Monday on same, as I noticed too late.
Also confirmed UT Monday April 25 from 0259 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160-,
S9+10/20 direct with considerable ACI from 6165 RHC. Measured at 0247
on 6159.941, but perpetual offset does not help, LSB tuning still
required. Why in the world are two SW stations in ``North America``
only 5.059 kHz apart? Stubbornness on both sides? Or failure to
recognize the opposition? Next:
0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to WNW
2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed]
1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035-USB or 3210-USB
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to WNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW

** U S A. 21525, April 24 at 2220, S1-S5 open carrier. Got to be the
only 21525 station, WRMI-7, supposed to run 15-21 UT with nothing but
PAB`s Radio Africa including some despicable dead gospel huxters.
Forgot to turn it off? Left on for propagation study? Sporadic E must
be in play boosting it to much more than the usual JBA carrier to
here. *Still* on at 0047 check April 25, and now it`s S9! Still on at
0126 check; 0158 JBA, and inaudible maybe off by 0215 check. Yet April
25 at 1506, no 21525 signal at all (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. (7490v), April 25 at 2300, secret Monday semi-repeat of
`UBMP` on WBCQ webcast, featuring melodic music for Ramadan, as Imam
UB declares there is nothing anti-musical in the Qur`an. Chopped off
at 2330 for `Camp Constitution Radio` with no extraneous commercial
any more.
[and non] BTW, earlier in Ramadan, the 2000 kW in NW corner of Sa`udi
Arabia on 1521 kHz was reported reactivated, presumably all-night for
Ramadan. Is it still? as Ramadan lasts until May 1. When 24h normally,
I`d sometimes hear its het upon 1520 KOKC even here in OK, and might
again in our evenings, if active. Well, April 25 at 2255, nothing on
1521 into Cyprus or Kuwait SDRs unlike some nearby frequencies altho
maybe not ideal for MW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
This report dispatched at 0014 UT April 26
