** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Sat Nov 13 at 1541, NO LRA36 signal
into two Brasil Kiwi SDRs. Checked as soon as local power outage was
rapidly fixed by OG&E after one hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 401-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0723 UT, NDB dash and YPO, 500 watts
from Peawanuck, Ontario.
376-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0730, NDB dash and YAG, 40 watts from Fort
Frances ON. Only two somewhat unusual but not new Canadians during
bandscan above 375, see USA for more. Last log of YAG this year:
``376-MCW, Feb 17 at 0737 UT, dash and YAG is JBA, 40 watt NDB from
Fort Frances, Ont. 1407 km = 874 stmi or 21.85 miles per watt`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** FRANCE. 17800+, Nov 13 at 1541, S9-S7 music off-frequency, so
Minitransat special broadcasts via TDF Issoudun from 1500, are still
going past originally registered end-date of Nov 12.
17800-DRM, Nov 13 at 1707 via Maryland remote, French meteo by OM
voice, S9/+10, SNR 22 dB. Label reads starting with 1 AAC (1000)
meaning Service #1 of 4, not IAAC as I miswrote last time. By 1713 now
it`s YL in English but very heavy French accent. 1747 still on but not
decoding S5, and SNR of 5.9 dB. How much longer? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** MEXICO. 800, Nov 13 at 0705, full ID from XEROK, 50 mil vatios,
Ciudad Juárez, address, Grupo 7, etc., dominant on E-W longwire, an
unusual situation vs KQCV, PJB and CKLW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NEWFOUNDLAND [and non]. 2598-USB, Nov 13 at 0743 UT, RoboYL in
English with gale warnings for Northern Grand Banks. Per
DXinfocentre.com, first broadcast of the day on 2598 starts at 0737
from VCP-4, 3000 watts at Placentia. That`s 4:07 am NST.
2749-USB, Nov 13 at 0744, same RoboYL voice but unusually much weaker
tho closer, VCO, 550 watts from Sydney NS, first broadcast of day
starting at 0740 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 388 kHz, see USA beacon logs for one Okie, OK
** U S A. A quiet night with no Blitz storms across N America, so
digging deep into the beacon band, Nov 13 at 0717 until 0732 UT when a
local noise source cut on curtailing my bandscan below 376 kHz:
419-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0711 UT, NDB GB which is 25 watts from Great
Bend KS. I was tuned to 417-USB. Not very far but first time heard.
412-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0713 UT, NDB CMY, 30 watts from Sparta / Fort
McCoy WI. I was tuned to 410-USB. Last logged Jan 27, 2021.
408-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0715 UT, NDB JDM, 25 watts from Colby /
Wheatfield KS. My previous log from 2020y bears repeating:
``408-MCW kHz, Oct 18 at 0643 UT, JDM, 25-watt NDB at Colby -
Wheatfield, Kansas. One wonders how a call with no connexion to the
listed location came about? So I try searching on JDM Colby, finding
``Colby Howard Lands at JD Motorsports For Majority of 2020 ``
about NASCAR - that`s a stretch! Further down are linx to JDM as
NAVAID, but no call significance. Even further down, there is a JDM
Enterprises, LLC, in Colby among 55 other places:
https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_ks/8804627
but what does it do?`` Do they have a private airstrip in Colby?
392-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0724 UT, NDB FMZ, 25 watts at Fairmont / Beklof
NE.
388-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0725 UT, NDB OK, 25 watts at Okmulgee OK. I was
tuned to 386-USB.
383-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0726 UT, NDB CNP, 25 watts at Chappell NE. It`s
in SW NE on I-80 between Ogallala and Sidney near the NE corner of
CO.
378-MCW kHz, Nov 13 at 0728 UT, random dits, occasional dahs or longer
dash, as if a very out-of-order beacon. Like previous log:
``UNIDENTIFIED. 378 kHz, Oct 22 at 0620 UT, NDB bandscan finds
intermittent dashes, dits and dahs. Sounds like an NDB but very out of
order. If really on 378, dxinfocentre.com lists only four, in BC, OR,
QC and NU, none very likely here. classaxe.com has only the three
Canadians, with OR and several more marked out, and none of them, then
or now noted with any problem like this. It`s still possible this was
a local device previously unnoticed. Anyone else hearing thus?``
