** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Sat July 17 tune-in at 1500 via
Pardinho, Brasil SDR, S4-S6, historical talk about something in 1816y;
1501 LRA36 ID, music; 1505 ID for the miércoles 11-13 transmission;
1518 music alternating with frequent IDs; 1545 still with song past
1600, 1643, 1652, 1704 rechex; 1719 ID, music; 1729 Antártida song but
cutoff just as lyrix start at 1729.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. CNR1 jammer check just in time July 17 at 1358: JBA carrier
on 12820, but S8-S9 Chinese music/talk on 12880, 13020, 13130. I`m
tuned to the last one until 1400 timesignal and abruptly off* (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 7105, 7130, 7140, 7150, 7157, 7165, July 17 at 0632, approx.
peaks of weak pulse jamming from Cuba; vs no hamcomms at all heard
near them. July 18 at 0308, only one is 7165 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** FRANCE [non]. 9395, July 18 at 0000, Atlantic 2000 special via WRMI
as publicized; +31 Hz carrier offset, more than usual for WRMI.
Multi-lingual ID opens but then DJ in French for their July emission,
to include music dedications. Starts with Lovin` Spoonful from 1966,
in English. Strange how so many European/Free/pirate stations play
nothing but the narrow genre of rock, as rechecked a few more times
during the hour when I am really watching BBC America with a pleasant
$ tereo music soundtrack about animal life in the megacity of Tokyo
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA [and non]. No Es DX to be found, but some bandscanning
circa 1802-1820 UT July 17 finds KS signals enhanced,
Wichita-Hutchinson area, e.g. KHCC 90.1 overriding KUCO OK without
even trying into the caradio vertical antenna. However, next check
after 2100 finds weather has reversed, now with OKC signals enhanced
such as not normally audible dominating 92.9, ``From the Lucky Star
Casino, KOMA HD2 The Edge``, not to be confused with the primary KOMA
on 92.5. 92.9 is really:
K225BN KOMA-HD2 92.9 OKLAHOMA CITY OK ROCK 92.9 THE EDGE 0.2 0.2
267.7 267.7 35-32-51 97-29-30
A sibling translator on 95.3 of KOKC 1520, always audible but stronger
than usual:
K237GE KOKC-1520 95.3 OKLAHOMA CITY OK TALK KOKC 95.3 FM 1520 AM
0.25 0.25 0.0 0.0 35-32-51 97-29-30 35FE KOKC Talk Radios New
Generation 95.3 and 1520 KOKC News
Of course 95.3 is not really at zero height above average terrain! I
figured it would be on same tower as 92.9 and the GC do match. In
fact, 95.3 has to be way up there for consistent coverage as far as
Enid with 250 watts ERP. HAAT may be uncalculated but FCC shows it is
314m above ground = 1030 feet.
I moved out of OKC in 1961, one reason to get away from all the local
RF hampering TVDX. Now I shudder to think how Citians are blocked from
getting out-of-city FM signals by all the local translators of AM
stations or of HD FM channels where no one is listening to their
original intent; e.g. forget about Tulsa into OKC on 92.9 or 102.3,
etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 4790, July 17 at 0624 check, the new WBCQ is
still on with TOMBS, S9+10/20 direct but noisy. Probably all-night or
even 24 hours all day. Yes, 4790 checked July 17 at 1612 via Maine SDR
is on at S9, -26 Hz offset = 4789.974. But 3265+ which ought to be
audible that close in daytime if on, is not. More TOMBS on 6160 S5-S7
minus 712 Hz = 6159.288 kHz.
I wonder who does WBCQ frequency management? 6160 was a bad choice
next to Cuba in primetime, as I repeatedly outpointed, but no
broadcasters anywhen anywhere around 4790. Latest HFCC dated July 17
still has WBCQ on 5130, no 4790. Does show 6160 24h, and 3265 at 22-10
UT only, tho is also running it in daytime. Also the 500 kW on 13570
where it never went before it broke. FCC did not get around to
posting A21 schedules until April 26 and not updated since.

Hauser, OK, WOR)

almost 1830. Altho missing from 918 Italia AM on July 16, today July
17 confirmed also there via Noale SDR at 1820 check a few sex out of
synch with 7290; S9+15 but a lot of local line noise.

Last FCC Update May 22 2021 --- is it definitely off the air now? ---

Doug Smith, TN, W9WI, replies on the WTFDA gg Jul 17 06:56AM -0500:
``KOZB filed a silent STA on May 26th, 2020 citing financial
difficulties. They filed to extend it in January. I don't see any
"resumption of operations" filing, but on May 18th they filed a
technical STA requesting authority to operate the station at
reduced power. ("The licensee hopes to be able to operate at 8.7kW
ERP, but a lower power may be necessary.") That STA was granted the
next day.
Given that KOZB would have fallen afoul of the off-over-a-year law in
eight days, I think you can reasonably presume it did return to the
air on May 19th. FWIW, four other co-owned Bozeman stations have made
similar filings: KBOZ-1090; KBOZ-FM 99.9; KOBB-1230 and KOBB-FM 93.7.
Sounds like Bozeman may have been a great place to DX for awhile!``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 4975, July 17 circa 0630 again that JBA carrier, but
unlikely to be R. Deltracks, as Gianni Serra, Roma, agrees:
``Glenn, it is hard to believe the JBA carrier you caught on 4975 kHz
(0639 July 11 / 0636 July 12) was from Euro Pirate Radio Deltracks,
considering the low TX power of 350 Watts (or below 1 kW): sunrise in
Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has been at 0333 UTC on July 11
