** AUSTRIA [and non]. From Alan Holder, G4ZBH, Isle of Wight, U.K. on
the WOR iog: ``Hello Glenn, Regarding the "No COVID at Wiener
Philharmoniker". According to the BBC commentator for the programme
screened in the U.K., apparently all members of the orchestra were
tested for COVID on a daily basis to ensure none was infected. It
seems that the programme went out "live" on January 1. I did notice
some unfamiliar faces among the players this year. They could be new
members, or maybe replacements for those who had to drop out because
they caught the virus. Like you, I always greatly enjoy this concert.
I can also get it via Astra satellite with German (Austrian accent)
commentary, which I much prefer to the English announcer.`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13632 & 13769 approx., Jan 3 at 1555, RHC spurblobs, S6,
unreadable even in FM mode, but with signature F# tone; also JBA on
13838 = 68-69 kHz intervals from 13700-AM which is S9+10/20.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6929-USB, Jan 2 at 2300, ID as I tune in, ``Goat
Cheese Radio 2021``, S8-S9, ``As Time Goes By``, 2304 another song by
same singer, others report as Billie Holiday and I do not disagree.
But from 2305 keeps cutting out. Someone politely calls this a medley,
but sounds to me like CD skipping from one track to the next in bits
of a variety of songs by same singer. Since there is no carrier it`s
tantamount to turning the transmitter off and on. Enough of that;
anyhow I`ve got the ID. See:

** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW kHz, Jan 3 at 0002 UT, ND beacon EI, Enid, is
back on; in fact I think it was already circa 0715 Jan 2, but did not
make it into my dozing log notes. But still AWOL are: 255-MCW, SW,
Stillwater; and 350-MCW, RG, Oklahoma City.
341-MCW kHz, Jan 3 at 1553, EI is off again, only OIN Oberlin KS
audible, and the other two Okies are still off (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
WOR)
** U K. BBCWS New Year`s Concert --- in case you missed or could not

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2067 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
January 2 at 2100 UT on WA0RCR, 1860-AM local quality via nearby
Warrenton MO KiwiSDR, until ending at 2110:25, so started circa 2041.
Also confirmed Sat Jan 2 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, VP direct.
Also confirmed UT Sun Jan 3 from 0416:35 on WA0RCR, The Gateway
160-meter Radio Newsletter, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, VG via Warrenton
SDR; and just before that was also audible tho poorly way out at
Token`s Mohave, California SDR, which I had up checking KVOH, 60 miles
away.
Making it almost coast-to-coast as Andy Robins tells me: ``Hi Glenn: I
thought you might like to hear how WOR sounds at some distance from
the Wentzville, Missouri, "160-Meter Gateway" station on 1860 kHz. The
attached recording was made using a KiwiSDR near Zion, Pennsylvania,
that has a 220-meter BOG antenna oriented at 60/240°. Reception
quality varied from poor to pretty good with a lot of fades, some of
which were rather lengthy. On this occasion (UT Sunday, January 3),
the program started at 0416.
I can't receive WAØRCR here at home. With WTOU 1660 kHz less than two
miles away (10 kW day/1 kW night), I must use a mediumwave stop-band
filter at all times. That effectively kills 160 meters too,
unfortunately. I hope you are getting started on a New Year that's
significantly better than the one before. 73, Andy Robins, Kalamazoo,
Michigan USA``

recorded in *2019* since the 2020 probably was missed. Should be on
