[Swprograms] Podding Along - Issue 15

These are some podcasts from international and public radio sources that I've found particularly interesting and edifying as I'm "plodding along" in my regular exercise regimen.

In addition to via the websites referenced, these podcasts generally are made available through several other popular internet sources such as iTunes and TuneIn.

------------------------------

RADIOTONIC - ABC RN
Kafka Unchained - An Acoustic Comic
Kafka Unchained began as a comics art exhibition to celebrate both the 90th anniversary of Kafka's death and the centenary of the writing of "The Trial" for the year 2014. The success of the exhibition inspired its curators, Malgorzata Zerwe and David Zane Mairowitz, to produce a "radio comic" featuring the three exhibition artists: Chantal Montellier from France, Robert Crumb from the USA and Jaromir 99 from the Czech Republic. The exhibition also inspired Jaromir 99 to create the Kafka Band from Prague. Their first CD, Das Schloss, is a compilation of texts from Kafka's "The Castle" set to music and features throughout Kafka Unchained. (55')

(My note: Radiotonic is a challenging, innovative radio program, "a heady mix of fiction, non-fiction, essays and drama from writers, artists and radio makers, brought to you by RN’s Creative Audio Unit." It's probably not the best workout companion as it requires more attention than the average. Nonetheless, it treats radio as an art form in itself--something quite rare and, consequently, to be appreciated.)

THE LIST - ABC RN
Dead Frogs, Comedy and Gone Girl
Is comedy experiencing a golden age and is the best selling thriller and soon to be released film "Gone Girl" misogynist? (30')

THE DRAWING ROOM - ABC RN
Aussie Rules the World
It's the greatest game on earth and it's also one of the oldest codes of football still being played. Michael McIntyre is the director of Aussie Rules The World, a documentary about 'footy' and the people around the world who play it.
Clare Watson is the director of a play calledI Heart John McEnroe. They join Waleed Aly in the Drawing Room to discuss what it is about sport that makes for great drama and theatre. (20')
