WRN appoints new managing director
February 18th, 2009 - 11:24 UTC by
Andy Sennitt

WRN, the international London-headquartered TV and radio transmission
company, has appointed a new Managing Director to steer the company
into 2009 and beyond. Founding shareholder and Technical Director Tim
Ashburner, who took over running WRN in October 2007, has stepped back
from the role as of 1 February
and David Treadway, who was already WRN's Business Manager, has taken
over as MD.

Tim Ashburner says: "We are delighted to welcome David into his new
role as Managing Director and are looking forward to him steering the
company forward
in the coming years. 2008 was a challenging year for WRN however our
results show it was our most successful yet. David will use his
experience to push
WRN into new areas of business and spearhead the company's aggressive
acquisition and expansion agenda".

David says: "Tim has bought us to the point where WRN is stronger and
more commercially effective today than at any point in its recent
history and I am
looking forward to building on this success for the future".

David has built up a distinguished career in broadcasting. David first
joined the BBC in a freelance capacity before being appointed to a
staff position
at BBC Radio Sheffield where he became the station's music producer.
He moved to Glasgow in 1978 to produce programmes for Radio Scotland
and manage and
produce the BBC Scottish Radio Orchestra for Radio 2.

David headed up the Radio 1 & 2 Light Entertainment & Popular Music
production department in Manchester and then went onto assistant
Controller of BBC Radio
2 in 1983. Here, he was instrumental in bringing presenter Ken Bruce
to a national radio audience as well as commissioning comedy and
documentary programming.

David joined United Artists Communications in 1990 as Managing
Director of the group's Avon and Cotswolds cable television and
telephone businesses before joining the leading venture capital and
private equity group, 3i plc to advise on broadcasting, media and
related technology investments worldwide. He
has been involved in several start-ups, the last of which was a retail
focused television company providing in-store services to a number of
leading high street convenience store chains.

David has also acted as a mentor and adviser to a number of young
media businesses and is a past member of the board of the Bristol Old
Vic theatre and vice chairman of the Northavon Chamber of Commerce. He
is married with 2 daughters and lives in London and the West Country.
