 WORLD OF RADIO 1444 summary:
*Caribbean Beacon, Anguilla, reactivated on 1610 kHz; but SW 6090 and
 11775 sporadically off the air
*Austria continues with brief English news segments on external
 service relayed from domestic
*Benin 5025 has strong signal but barely modulated
*R. Kawsachun Coca, Bolivia, says it is `adjusting` SW 6075 around
 sunrise and sunset
*Central African Republic heard on 7230, but reduced power
*Chinese New Year, Jan 26, so look for special programming from Asia
*China censors Pres. Obama`s inauguration speech where he criticizes
 fascism and communism
*Mystery on 5555 at 23-02 UT may not be R. Juventud, Pasto, Colombia,
but a mix from Europe, with timesignals like RNE, Spain
*HCJB has removed tallest antenna towers at Pifo, but lower ones
remain and will continue broadcasting from there until April 1, 2010
*New Islamic clandestine for Ethiopia, R. Bilal, Sundays 1700 on 9610
 via Russia, originates in Washington
*R. France International laying off 20% of work force; plans to close
several languages January 31, and more in 2010/2011; possibly
 shortwave will be abolished then
*RRI Pontianak, Kalimantan, heard on 3976 in New Hampshire, Oregon
*Shiokaze, abduction clandestine for North Korea, changes both
 frequencies
*Voice from the Wilderness, religious clandestine for NK, adds SK on
MW, and Armenia(?) 9830 on SW
*R. Lesotho heard on additional MW frequency, 639 kHz; from where?
*Thanks for financial support from David Goren
*The Cross, Micronesia, still plans to resume SW 4755; awaiting
 technician
*Medi-1, Morocco, with much better signal on LW 171, now audible
 daytime in UK
*Carrier being heard on 5005 could be R. Nepal; they say they are on
 at reduced power
*Radio Reading Service, ZLXA, Levin NZ, is silent on SW 3935, pending
final closedown decision; maybe they will run one final DX broadcast
*At least two 500 kW MW transmitters coming for Kano state, Nigeria
*Calls for an educational SW station in Nigeria
*Aso Radio, 1600-1645 on 15180 back to Nigeria, from site Samara,
 Russia, per WRTH
*Russian transmitters putting out spurs
*Serbia heard on 7100 believed to be a pirate relay of 6100 via Sicily
*BBC using the IBB site in Thailand to reach Burma, probably because
its own site is too close for good skip distance
*BBC Bangla service has been announcing and publishing wrong
 frequencies
*Latest schedule for World of Radio via WRMI
*Correxion to last week, for Ted Randall`s shows on WBCQ 7415: 22-24
 UT Tue, Wed, Thu
*Clear Channel firing 1500 people on inauguration day hoping it will
 be overlooked
*FCC chairman Kevin Martin resigns Jan. 20; his successor will be a
Democrat and let us hope the FCC will start serving the public
interest. But he too is a lawyer, not an engineer
*Vintage archive of Radio Shack catalogs online, with love from Fort
 Worth
*Propagation outlook from Boulder, Jan 20. Solar Flux still stuck at
 70
