Re: [Swprograms] Good price on Grundig/Eton S350DL

Hi, again!

A followup on this that I posted a week ago. The people at Sieglers assured
me that this really was the S350DL at $99.95. It is backordered until
early March. However, I just received a special 10% discount coupon code
in an email offer which just about makes up for the $15 shipping cost: it
is "MISSYOU10", which you type into the coupon-code box on the online
order form.

However, I was never able to get that discount to work when I tried it,
but that may be due to some strangeness on this specific computer
I'm using (it's my neighbor's) or some glitch in their online ordering
process. I called their 800 number while I was trying that and spoke
with a nice lady in their phone-order shop, and eventually she was
able to apply the discount that way and I just ordered the radio over
the phone.

Thought you'd like to know if you're interested in one of these.

Hi, all!

I had been thinking of adding one of the Grundig/Eton S350DL radios
to my radio collection, (That's the upgraded version of the S350,
with added circuitry to reduce drifting; there's some good review
comments on it under the "Tecsun" factory name at radiointel.com
and other reviews at various places on the net.) It has always been
advertised at the full $150 list price at most places I checked, up
from the $100 basic S350 model (which is also sometimes available
reconditioned for less).

I was surprised to get a new catalog in the mail from "Siegler & Co."
yesterday that listed the S350DL at only $100, and I just checked
their website for this and it clearly states and pictures the S350DL
model at this price. This astounds me, since this company never
struck me as a low-price outlet. (It was formerly "The Sovietski
Collection", selling assorted military surplus and curiosa.) Here's
the website page with this radio:

http://www.sieglers.com/cgi-bin/Sieglers.storefront/43f355690256f7009c4ec0a80a7306b4/Product/View/202681?wt_prodno=202681&wt_cat=#ParentCategoryName&wt_subcat=#CategoryName

Before I order one, I'm going to check with them to make sure
that this is really truly the S350DL and not just the S350 with
the wrong picture, but I thought it might be worth spreading
the info in case someone else was looking for a good price on
an S350DL. The webpage text *does* mention the anti-drifting
circuitry unique to the DL version, so the odds are good that it is
really the DL. (Before writing this, I checked with a number of those
websites that claim to search out the best price on items from
all over the net, and didn't find any lower [but I didn't find
*this* one listed either, so maybe they're not all that useful...].)
Shipping from Sieglers would be $15, by the way. Don't know
of any coupon codes or the like that would get you free shipping
like some websites offer.

The radio has the reputation for having a lot of images due to the
circuit design, but it also is supposed to have pretty decent audio
quality, so I figured that it might be nice to play around with...
The more radios, the better, after all... :-)
