Here on the east coast of the US, we have two chances of hearing this, slim 
and none as Cuba seems to have taken over 12 megs.

DEMOCRACY RADIO FOR WEST AFRICA

The West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR) started
broadcasting on November this year from its studio in
Dakar, Senegal. The radio transmits on 12000 KHZ on
short wave and 94.9 FM.

The radio is also expected to broadcast online as well
as partner with community radio stations in Mano River
Union - Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. Until
January next year, WADR will be broadcast two hours in
English and French starting at 07:00 GMT. During the
period, the radio will focus on countries in Mano
River Union.

Already, it has set up offices in Monrovia, Conakry
and Freetown. These offices will generate news and
other materials that promote dialogue and democracy in
the region. WADR will later expand its broadcast to
Chad and Cameroon.

The station will air out programmes on news and
current affairs as well as magazine programmes on good
governance, health, agriculture, gender, youth and
sports with a view to promoting peace and human
security, transparency and accountability in
governance, regional economic integration, and social
and cultural development amongst the peoples of the
region.

A brainchild of the Open Society Initiative for West
Africa (OSIWA), the station is conceived to be the hub
of a West African network of public, private and
community radio stations, creating an avenue for
networking between these radio stations and a channel
for dialogue among the peoples of the respective
countries they serve.
