WorldSpace files $100M IPO

WorldSpace Inc., a Washington-based satellite radio operator, filed to raise $100 million in an IPO with UBS.
The company said it's spent $1.2 billion since 2004 to develop its business.
WorldSpace said it was a principal founding shareholder of XM Satellite (XMSR: news, chart, profile) and it sold its stake in that business in 1999.
WorldSpace provides satellite radio services to Asia, the Middle East, much of Western Europe and Africa.
The company plans to trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol WINR.
