Mon.: 0130 Holiday Snapshots for Radio - an album of holiday stories - talking about the things that we enjoy doing on holiday and why we like to do them. Today: the luxury lodge; 0206 Bob Marley & The Wailers - Live at the Roxy. This intimate Hollywood club barely contains the Rastaman vibration coming from the stage, enveloping the audience and taking it all higher. The closest you'll get to hearing Marley's message of peace, love and reggae in person. Recorded live at The Roxy, Hollywood California on May 26 1976.
Tue.: 0130 Holiday Snapshots for Radio - an album of holiday stories - talking about the things that we enjoy doing on holiday and why we like to do them. Today: Kiwi icons; 0206 Concert for Bangladesh - long before Band Aid and 'We Are The World' there was the Concert for Bangladesh. A post-Beatles George Harrison collected together many of his famous friends as well as musicians from his 'All Things Must Pass' album and staged a charity concert for the young and hungry nation of Bangladesh. Luring Bob Dylan out of semi-retirement, and Eric Clapton from an alcohol stupor, Harrison, alongside Leon Russell, Ravi Shankar, Ringo Starr, Badfinger, and Billy Preston put on this ground-breaking live benefit concert.
Wed.: 0130 Holiday Snapshots for Radio - an album of holiday stories - talking about the things that we enjoy doing on holiday and why we like to do them. Today: stress and holidays; 0206 Led Zeppelin: How The West Was Won - Jimmy Page forgot he had these 1972 recordings for about 30 years. What you hear on those tapes is a huge live rock band at their absolute peak (captured between the albums Led Zeppelin IV & Houses of the Holy). Great musicianship, absolutely no restraint - it was just this sort of behaviour that inspired millions of heavy metal bands...and, in a round-about way, punk and new wave. Recorded at the Los Angeles Forum and Long Beach Arena on June 25th and 27th, 1972.
Thu.: 0130 Holiday Snapshots for Radio - an album of holiday stories - talking about the things that we enjoy doing on holiday and why we like to do them. Today: surfing - catching the wave; 0206 James Brown: Live At The Apollo "....and now ladies and gentlemen, it's star time...are you ready for star time?!!" JB and the Famous Flames nail it live. Entirely financed by James Brown and helped along by the tiny R&B radio stations that would play the whole album uninterrupted; this recording made it to #2 in the USA pop charts in the early 1960s - unheard of for a soul record or a black artist at that time. A hot band, an ecstatic audience and a cold autumn night. This is an accurate definition of R&B from the godfather of soul. Recorded at the Apollo Theatre, New York in 1962.

Next update to appear by 0600 UT Fri., 14 Jan.

Good Listening!
