French expeditioners, led by Captain Bruni D'Entrecasteaux, sought

journeyed to the southern hemisphere to search for their compatriot La
Perouse, the French national hero, who went missing off the coast of
Australia in 1789. This feature explores the time that the French spent
in southern Tasmania, and the rich historical legacy they left behind.
