Re: [Swprograms] Somewhat OT: The future of "Radio"?

An interesting overview of some new, and not so new, technologies.

The section on Podcasts raises the question of "What is a radio
broadcast?". Traditional radio has been merging with other
technologies for some time now, and seems as if it will continue to
do so. How long will it be before conventional radio really starts to
die, as shortwave has been doing for the past few years?

In the section on Digital Radio, it is interesting that the author
focussed solely on digital radio in the AM band (IBOC, I belive its
called). This is probably because the auhtor is an American, writing
for an American audience. Yet, due to the international nature of the
web, I would have thought that some mention of other digital radio
formats would have been in order.
