Re: [Swprograms] OT: New US public radio program: "Weekend America"

APM is a unit of Minnesota Public Radio, as shown here:
http://www.apmstations.org/apmstations/abt/AboutAmericanPublicMedia.do?navId=0.
PRI says it's a "network" just like NPR.

PRI and MPR have longstanding ties but are separate organizations; the
formation of APM ends the MPR-PRI relationship from what I can figure.

Seems like this program has been testing for 2 years
already. Can someone explain how American Public Media
is related to PRI? Seems like APM is a production arm
of PRI.

MPR receives $1.8 million for new weekend program

Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) has received a $1.8
million grant from the Corporation for Public
Broadcasting to support MPR's new weekend news program
Weekend America.

The program, formerly known as Public Radio Weekend,
is produced in Los Angeles and distributed by American
Public Media, MPR's national arm.

The program has been aired on an experimental basis
for two years. It is a live program, hosted by public
radio veterans Barbara Bogaev and Bill Radke.

The program is expected to attract more listeners to
public radio on the weekends, when listenership drops
off compared to the number of weekday listeners.
