[Swprograms] sort of OT: WSJ "Heard on the Street" column regarding radio

The Wall Street Journal's regular "Heard on the Street" feature was a rather
downbeat look at the radio sector, specifically Infinity and Clear Channel,
in the wake of Howard Stern's defection to Sirius.

Two key paragraphs:

"The popular disc jockey's decision to bolt from Viacom Inc.'s over-the-air
radio for a young satellite-radio company is a reminder that the
broadcast-radio sector remains about as popular with investors as Mr. Stern
is with Baptist ministers.

"The fundamental problem is that people just aren't tuning into radio the
way they once did, for several reasons. As the industry consolidates and
programming becomes less local and more homogenized, radio provides fewer
choices and niches than competing media such as cable television and the
Internet. Commuters are spending more time on their car phones or listening
to compact discs than ever before."

All the more reason for people to discover the non-homogenized, multiple
niches of international broadcasting.
