Note WinAmp, among other players, will play ogg streams.
>The CBC appears to be testing new ogg vorbis streaming radio, which I think
>is just fantastic -- [ http://www.cbc.ca/listen/ogg.html ]
>
>Previously the CBC had said, "... we?re moving to one standard media player
>for live streaming - Windows Media Player."
>
>Being unable (and unwilling to bother) listening to Windows Media format
>streams under Linux, I'm thrilled that the CBC is contemplating a new
>option. People on all platforms can enjoy ogg vorbis audio streams without
>having to worry about proprietory software, patents, or licensing. And the
>broadcaster doesn't have to worry about such i$$ues either!
>
>ogg vorbis streams can today be considered truly 'convenient', since they
>do work with Winamp, XMMS, and other popular media players.
>
>And this all makes me wonder, what on earth happened to the BBC's tests
>with ogg vorbis? [ http://support.bbc.co.uk/ogg/ ]
>
>I enjoyed listening to those too. If I hadn't found the free Helix Real
>Audio player on Linux, I would have never heard the BBC again. I still
>refuse to install Real Player on Windows. I'm not the only one I think.
