Hitch-hike across Canada this Labour Day with Radio One's
local and national hosts. Meet great characters and hear
their stories. Highlights from the past year and previews of
the new fall season, listeners' memories of spellbinding
radio moments and producers' tales of disappearing guests,
   on-air bloopers and pet projects.
08.37 to 10.00: Join Toronto's Andy Barrie and Shelagh
Rogers (Sounds Like Canada) as they needle The Voice from
The Current, figure out what Network Producers do, re-play a
very candid conversation with k.d. lang, and much more.
   Here's the rundown:
10.06-11.00 - join Winnipeg's Terry MacLeod and Anna Maria
Tremonti (The Current) for some great min-documentaries,
including a look at a vacation for political activists,
Michael Enright's tirade against big kids in strollers, and
the best in satire from The Current.
   11.06-12.00 - Yellowknife's Peter Hope teams up with DNTO's
Sook-Yin Lee for a look at mosquitoes, multiple languages &
moose hunting in NWT, plus a trip to a "music house" in
Cameroon, and David Gutnicks award-winning documentary
"Beethovens Bust", about a piano teacher and the little
Japanese girl who was his last pupil. Also, the lovely story
from Tapestry of the Virgin of Guadelupe.
12.06-13.00 - Tapestry's Mary Hynes and Ted Blades of St.
John's share stories from CBC listeners, along with Robert
Priest's performance poetry, a Labour Day story by Stuart
McLean, and something called "Waddling Penguins and
   Skittering Mice."
   13.06-14.00: Ottawa's Lucy Van Oldenbarneveld & Russell
Bowers from Prince Rupert have the network premieres of
regional documentaries about the closing of a much-loved
drive-in, an election where most of the candidates had the
same last name, a gruelling Scout camp, and taking your
   child to the opera.
14.06 - 16.00 Bill Richardson, former host of the Roundup
and now the host of Bunny Watson, teams up with Vancouver's
Priya Ramu. Hear Bill's thoughts on meeting with listeners at
public events, Jane Farrow's intro to her new shoe The
Omnivore, an award-winning look at growing up Sri Lankan in
Canada, and music picks from Robert Harris. Plus audio art
from Steve Wadhams, the Master of radio documentaries. And
in the last half-hour, highlights from the CBCs True North
Concert in Haines Junction, Yukon, introduced by aboriginal
radio hosts from CBC's Northern Network.
