"The Current" on Thursday will cover a potentially interesting topic.
Tough to say if it will be part of what makes it to the RCI shortwave
broadcast.
You can also check the RCI-1 web/satellite feed at 1430 UT or RCI-3 at 1300
UT as well as the Radio One live webcasts.

HOT SHEET FOR THURSDAY JULY 15, 2004
-- RADIO ONE --
1. THE CURRENT:
The C-R-T-C, Canada's broadcast regulator, has pulled the
plug on an entire Quebec radio station - not just the host,
not just the show. And it's generating a lot of discussion
about freedom of speech and freedom of commerce. Find out
more on The Current, with Mark Kelly, this morning at 8:30
(9:00 NT) on CBC Radio One.
2. SOUNDS LIKE CANADA:
As he sits in for Shelagh Rogers, hardened Montrealer
Bernard St. Laurent ventures into the heart of British
Columbia's fabled Lotusland. Unafraid of hemp and granola,
Bernie hits Saltspring Island in search of the ultimate B.C.
story - a homeopathic wildlife rescue station. That's Sounds
Like Canada, this morning at 10 (10:30 NT) on CBC Radio One.
3. 50 TRACKS:
Jian Ghomeshi is "In the Mood" for a little Glenn Miller
this morning, as 50 Tracks explores the music of the
Thirties. But will he get his musical choice past host and
reviewer Laurie Brown, guitarist and record producer Colin
Linden and blues great Jeff Healey? 50 Tracks, weekday
mornings inside Sounds Like Canada at 10:30 (11 NT) on CBC
Radio One.
4. OUTFRONT:
Today on OutFront...Nina and Arne. Aaron Goodman tells the
story of his cousin Arne, whose caring nature continues to
touch those around him. Lately, Arne has been helping Nina.
She worked for years as a nanny for Arne's younger brother
and sister. Now, Nina has multiple sclerosis and is in
palliative care. Aaron tells the story of his cousin's
unlikely friendship with Nina in difficult circumstances, on
OutFront, this morning at 11:45 (12:15 NT) NT) on CBC Radio
One.
5. ROUNDUP: ***last half-hour not heard in Toronto***
The Trudeau scholarship is a student's dream: it can mean up
to two hundred thousand dollars toward your studies. Robert
Huish is one of this year's winners. The Simon Fraser
University Geography student is going to use the prize money
to study a program to stock rural Latin America with fully
trained physicians, a rare commodity in those parts. The
program offers free medical school. That's this afternoon on
Richardson's Roundup at 2 (2:30 NT) on CBC Radio One.
6. CONNECTIONS:
Stories of Revenge this week on Connections. What is it that
make settling the score such a joy? Through stories from
those who have plotted revenge, and from those who have
carried it out, hear about that dark place within that
pushes us to seek out and enjoy vengeance. Connections, this
evening at 7:30 (8 NT) on CBC Radio One.
7. IDEAS:
Part One of Slow Food tonight on Ideas. While mass
demonstrations against globalization have grabbed the
headlines, a more positive challenge to global food and
agriculture has been growing. The Slow Food Movement began
in Italy in 1986, when McDonald's first opened in Rome.
Since then, it has spread around the world. Jill Eisen
explores this tantalizing mix of politics, environmentalism
and the pursuit of pleasure. That's tonight on Ideas at 9
(9:30 NT) on CBC Radio One.
8. THE ARTS TODAY:
The Arts Today wraps up a series on art collecting this
evening. Tonight, host Eleanor Wachtel talks with
photographer Geoffrey James about the collector and curator
Ydessa Hendeles. That's The Arts Today, right after the ten
p.m. news (10:30 NT) on CBC Radio One.
9. BETWEEN THE COVERS:
More from "The Road to Mars" by Eric Idle today on Between
the Covers. Idle mixes humour and intrigue in his novel
about life on the interplanetary comedy circuit in the 24th
century. Carlton the android has just discovered that his
employers - two comedians - have been duped into carrying
secret messages. That's on Between the Covers, in Hour One
of Richardson's Roundup, which begins at 2:06 (2:36 NT) and
later tonight at 10:40 (11:10 NT) on CBC Radio One.
10. NORTHERN LIGHTS:
Tune in to Northern Lights tonight for music from singer
Eric Bibb, plus "Fairy Tale" by Leos Janacek. That's
Northern Lights, with host Andrea Ratuski, at 11:00 p.m.
(11:30 NT) on CBC Radio One and at 4 a.m. (4:30 NT) on CBC
Radio Two.
-- RADIO TWO --
11. TAKE FIVE: ***unless otherwise noted, concerts begin at
1 p.m.****

boundless imagination. Today on Take Five, pianist Stewart
Goodyear makes his Glenn Gould Studio debut, in a program
that features music by Mozart, Ravel and others. That's on
Take Five, with host Shelley Solmes, which begins at 10
(10:30 NT) on CBC Radio Two.

Join host Danielle Charbonneau this evening for Music for a
While. She'll have Khachaturian's Trio for clarinet, violin

Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. That's Music for a While,
this evening at 6:30 (7:00 NT) on CBC Radio Two.
13. IN PERFORMANCE:
East Meets West tonight on In Performance, in a concert that
features erhu soloist George Gao and narrator Bill
Richardson, with the CBC Radio Orchestra. Music by Bright
Sheng, Colin McPhee, Raymond Luedecke and Tan Dun. That's In
