Re: [Swlfest] Shortwave Receivers Past and Present, 3rd Edition - like new

Warren, I am John Wagner, a retired person who also works part time at Universal Radio. I am not trying to sell anything with this Email. I just happened to see one of your Emails that came to me via the SWLFest mail list.
I see you have John F's Magnavox D 2935. John F. only sells "Good Stuff" and that D 2935 is a great portable. At one time I owned a matching pair of Magnavox's, the D2935 & it's big brother the D 2999. They where a handsome pair but the D 2935 actually out performed the bigger D 2999. The D 2935 I owned allowed for use of a "Ferrite rod antenna" on all Bands, or you could chose to use the whip or even an external (not a big one) antenna. Is your D2935 like that (allows you to use the ferrite rod on the SW Bands if you want)?
The bigger D 2999 was a beauty, chromed like an Elvis Cadillac! It had 2 speakers, a lage one & a smaller one good for Ham Band listening. The big speaker was great. But, it was not a true Desk Top rig as it tuned SSB via a BFO & the front end was not all that great.
