George has been a senior economic researcher for years for a Cleveland
anti-poverty agency.  He has chronicled how Ohio as a state, and
Cleveland, as a region, has not seen the economic recovery the rest of
the USA has experienced; he has emphasized the loss particularly in
the manufacturing economy, long the job-creation engine in the region.
 A search of the Cleveland Plain Dealer in the past few years will
turn up a ton of articles with Georege's work featured.

This agency has seen recent mismanagement, excessive spending on
boondongles, and other general malfeasance.

They have a significant funding deficit for 2005, and have tried to
close the gap by cutting staff.  His position was eliminated last
week.

The irony was not lost on the Plain Dealer -- George has long
chronicled Ohio's unemployment troubles.  It appears he's now part of
that group himself.

This agency as well as Ohio's state government are both mired in
scandal, and I am hopeful his situation can be reversed.
