Title: BBC Program on Shortwave
The BBC program Write On http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmes/write_on.shtml
Just had a show answering letters about cutting back on shortwave. The letters they read pointed out that Shortwave was more available (i.e. People wrote in saying they did not have broadband nor did they have a satellite dish). Others wrote about mobility and how they can take the radio with them but not a computer. Finally they said Shortwave and Internet had fees.
The BBC answer was that research was showing that people listen in different ways and they wanted to have more choice for listeners. They said the amount of listeners had gone up by 5 million since they started doing Satellite and other partnerships in the US.
