Re: [IRCA] July 10 Rockwork 4 DXpedition-- Murphy's Law on Steroids

Thanks for your comments, Guy, and I'll certainly give your regards to our Japanese visitors. They have been model guests, and we are all very honored to chase DX with them. Even with the incredibly bad weather this morning, they were always cheerful, helping me to assemble the FSLÂ antenna bases and patiently chase DU-DX with their 7.5" loopstick Ultralight radios inductively coupled to the 15" FSL (which was secured with 175-lb. test plastic tie wraps around the base, so that it wouldn't become airborne). They definitely impressed all of us with their positive attitudes and determination!

We would have enjoyed having you here, Guy, but the nasty weather and the "watered down" DU-DX conditions this morning wereÂpretty unusual in comparison to the other 5 sessions I've had on the cliff this week.ÂWe are looking for muchÂresults tomorrow (both in DU-DX and weather). After all, how could they possibly be worse? :-)

Wow, Gary! That was quite the welcome you arranged with the weather gods
for Satoshi-san and Hiroo-san! (Nick-san too :^)

As you know, I was scheduled to be at Rockwork 4 this weekend also but had
a change of plans come up in June. I can't say I missed the chance for
another Rockwork-style drenching, but I would have really enjoyed meeting
the Japanese DXers! Please greet Hiroo and Satoshi for me in my absence and
let them know I appreciate the contributions they made to my Perseus SDR
blog "Five Below" during the years it was active.

I hope DX conditions will be on the rebound for tomorrow morning's session,
to make up for the rude awakening you encountered today.
