[IRCA] Cheorwon, Korea Daytime Band Scan

For those interested, Chris Kadlec has posted a detailed AM band scan from Cheorwon, S. Korea, a city near the North Korean border about 40 miles NE of Seoul. This is copied from a Facebook post. 


Cheorwon, Korea AM Bandscan (Groundwave) -- 

Here's a daytime AM bandscan from Cheorwon, Korea, about 40 miles (90 min.) NE of Seoul and 85 mi. (3 1/2 hrs.) SE of Pyongyang. The AM situation here is pretty miserable. Only two locals exist here and you'd never know it by hearing them. Pyongyang has the strongest signals, and only 28 stations are even audible compared to 75 to the west in Incheon. 

** Two stations were off the air during this bandscan: 1053 Gimpo (jammer, which h ... ad just started with a bit of an intermittent pattern for whatever reason) and 1170 KBS Hanminjok 2, which is no doubt audible but is off the air from 1300-1850 every day. The scan was just before 1330 local time, catching 1053 Haeju on its daily sign-off and 1080 (same tower site) on its sign-on. The scan was done in the park, but signals closer to Pyonggang (not Pyongyang, but a different city north of Cheorwon) are dominantly strong DPRK, including 729 Sepo that was heard and may have not been on the air for the scan. Because of (rather unpredictable) security in that area and lack of time, I was unable to openly flaunt my radio as I was in the park. Take what you can get I guess.
